With the senior class moving on, it is time to take a look more at the 2028 class as they become closer to becoming juniors. Here are five that are already on college coaches’ radars or need to be.

Owen Birschbach – 2028 – F – Mammoth Basketball

Birschbach put together another very strong season for New Holstein in his sophomore season. This included 18.2 points, 8.1 rebounds, 2.6 assists, and 2 steals per game to earn first team all-conference honors. The forward already has a versatile game with his ability to score the ball effectively inside posting up but can also play out on perimeter and make plays with the ball in addition to showing improved range shooting the three. There is much to like from his game standing at 6’5” along with his well-rounded game and knows how to play.

DJ Cooper – 2028 – PG – Hoop Habits

It was a huge stock boosting sophomore season for Cooper in which he earned honorable mention all-state honors from the WBCA. He averaged 18.9 points, 5.2 rebounds, 5 assists, and 2.2 steals per game to help Regis to the state tournament. Already as a sophomore, Cooper is a skilled point guard with a very good ability to create for others as well to being a high level outside shooter with great range.

Ichima Idoko – 2028 – SF – Sizzle

Idoko has an incredibly high upside, and that ceiling has only continued to grow. In his sophomore season, he showed a lot of that potential helping DeLaSalle all the way to the state title game where he led all with 23 points in the game. He already stands at 6’8” to go along with his athleticism, length, defensive versatility, and a good all-around skill set that only continues to progress. He’s proven to be one of the top 2028 recruits in the Midwest.

Jase Navis – 2028 – G/F – Team Herro

During his two high school seasons, Navis has proven that he is one of the top prospects in Wisconsin. He has already scored 1,000 points in his first two seasons while averaging 20.5 points this season in addition to 12.7 rebounds, 4.2 assists, 1.6 steals, and 1.6 blocks. Navis already has great positional size at 6’7” along with a solid build and an advanced skill set to be a three-level scorer.

Ethan Vahl – 2028 – PG – Meanstreets

Vahl has consistently played at an extremely level and that continued into his sophomore season in which he earned 4A third team all-state honors while averaging 21 points. Much more than just a scorer who shoots it very well from the outside and creates well off the dribble but Vahl is also a pure point guard with an advanced skill set. Paired along with his feel, Vahl has a highly unique blend of talents as just a sophomore.
