It was a major weekend for the Illinois basketball program. Not only did they play in the final four but also picked up a major addition for their 2026 recruiting class.
The commitment came from Quentin Coleman, a 6’4” shooting guard of Principia High School (MO) and Brad Beal Elite. Coleman announced his commitment to Illinois on Friday. It has been an extremely busy few weeks in the recruitment of the highly rated senior. Less than a month ago, Coleman opened his recruitment after previously committing to Wake Forest. The commitment comes just a few days after his visit to Champaign. He had been committed to Wake Forest back in October. Illinois had initially offered him back in July of last year.
Coleman has been one the biggest stock risers over the past year for the 2026 class. He is ranked as high as twentieth in the national rankings for the 2026 class, by Rivals. As well to soaring up the national rankings over the past year, Coleman has also seen plenty of success on the court. This includes winning a championship on the EYBL circuit last July with Brad Beal Elite. He then won a state championship with Principia last month while scoring 50 points in the championship win. He also won Gatorade Player of the Year in Missouri this season.
With the addition of Coleman, Illinois now has one of the top recruiting class in the nation for the 2026 class. In addition to Coleman, they have commitments from Ethan Brown, Landon Davis, and Lucas Morillo.
