One of the top available senior guards in the entire Midwest has made his college commitment. This came from Amare Hereford of Beloit Memorial High School (WI) and Power 5.

The 6’2” point guard announced his commitment to UW-Milwaukee on Thursday. This comes after head coach Bart Lundy and the Panthers staff had offered Hereford back in February. Other programs to have offered Hereford included Bethune-Cookman, Boston University, Cal Poly, Northern Illinois, South Dakota State, Southern Utah, University of San Diego, UW-Green Bay, and Western Illinois.

In his senior season, Hereford was a finalist for the Wisconsin Mr. Basketball award. This was in addition to player of the year in the Southern Lake Conference. During the season, he was the leading scorer in all of Wisconsin averaging 37.5 points per game. He did so while shooting 60.7% from the field and 45% from three. This was in addition to averaging 8.5 rebounds, 5.3 assists, and 3.9 steals.

Hereford should provide a significant boost to the Panthers next season who recently finished their 2025-26 season at 12-20. The Panthers will be getting an elite score who has a great ability to create for himself. He has a highly unique blend of quickness, elusiveness, and shot making ability.
