It was a pair of North Shore Conference foes matching up in Madison at the Kohl Center in Whitefish Bay taking Slinger for the division two Wisconsin state championship. While Slinger was able to take the first two games of this matchup this season, Whitefish Bay was able to take the one that mattered most.
Right from the start of the game, Whitefish Bay jumped out to an early lead with a score of 18-7. They were able to get great contributions from Jack Broderson, Colin Julien, Mace Miskel, Marcus Webb, Matthew Schoenefeldt among others throughout in this game. At the half, Whitefish Bay was up 28-16 and it never got closer from there. Whitefish Bay was able to win the state title with a score of 77-46.
Jack Broderson – SG – 2027 – Whitefish Bay
Broderson stepped up his game a level to lead Whitefish Bay to the state championship win. This included leading all in the game with 23 points. While he hit a three in the win, the two guard was extremely effective playing on the attack. He scored the first points of the game on a driving basket and kept on scoring from there. All game he was getting deep into the paint and either finishing or getting to the line. This included hitting 10 free throws in the game. As well to his aggression attacking the basket, his energy was also shown by leading all in the game with 10 rebounds as well on the defensive end which included taking a charge.
Bryson Fogle – SG – 2026 – Slinger
Fogle put together a pair of stellar games in Madison at the state tournament. It started in the semifinals win where the guard had 20 points and 6 rebounds. He followed that up with another 20 points, 6 rebound game in this championship. After shooting 2-3 from three in the semifinals, Fogle shot it very well again going 4-6. He caught fire in the first few minutes of the second half leading a comeback attempt where he hit a trio of threes in a few minute span. Much more than just a shooter, Fogle also scored it on a couple of strong takes to the basket as well to his energetic defensive play.
Colin Julien – 2027 – G – Whitefish Bay
It was a big weekend for Julien as not only did he help Whitefish Bay win the state title but also picked up his first division one offer. Over the course of the game, the guard showed his great versatility making plays in a variety of ways. He has good positional size at 6’3” paired with his length along with a well-rounded skill set. This included running the point, shot making as he went 2-3 from the outside, and versatile defensive which include defending the ball well and blocking a couple of shots inside. The highly impactful guard finished the game with 14 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals, and 2 blocks.
Jack Kohnen – 2027 – G/F – Slinger
It may have not been the best game for Kohnen who saw great defensive attention throughout the game, but he was still able to make his impact felt. This included scoring 13 points, 9 rebounds, 5 assists, and 1 block. He used his 6’6” frame and physicality to attack the basket being able to back down defenders or use his long strides to get past defenders while often getting to the line. Kohnen also made multiple high-level passes in the game including an interior pass in the paint as well as one to a cutter right through heavy traffic. In the semifinals game, Kohnen scored 35 points.
Marcus Webb – 2026 – PG – Whitefish Bay
After a quiet first 14 minutes of the game, Webb came alive over the last 18 minutes of the game to put it away. This included scoring all his 13 points over this span. Webb is a quick point guard that was both effective making plays on the attack in the half court and in transition. Webb distributed it very well whether on drive and kick outs or pushing the ball in transition to finish the game with 5 assists. He scored it very efficiently shooting 6-9 including hitting his only three-point attempt.
