Slinger was able to get out to a quick start in this sectional finals game versus Notre Dame. In the first half they were able to lead by as many as 18. At the half, Slinger had a 29-14 lead behind 15 points from sophomore Joey Kohnen. In the second half, Notre Dame made a few pushes to get the game into single digits on multiple occasions but never any closer than 7. Slinger was able to win it 52-42 to punch their ticket to the state finals.
Bryson Fogle – 2026 – SG – Slinger
Fogle made a major impact in a variety of ways in the Slinger win and is a player than cannot be overlooked on this team. He scored 10 points while hitting a three and going 5-6 from the free throw line but was even more impactful with everything else he did. This included grabbing 7 steals as well to 2 assists and 5 steals. His high energy play was displayed throughout included diving all out on the floor to come away with a loose ball, a deflection in the opening minutes and battling for a key rebound in the final two minutes.
Jack Kohnen – 2027 – G/F – Slinger
The junior showed his great versatility in this game doing a bit of everything in the win. As well to scoring 16 points, Kohnen also added in 10 rebounds, 5 assists, 1 steal, and 4 blocks. His great impact was shown all on the first possession which included a block on the perimeter and then a steal which he turned into a transition basket for himself. He is such a mismatch on the floor as he stands at 6’6” with plenty of length while also running the point all game and can use his physicality to get to the basket in addition to an elevated well-rounded skill set. He also has a good passing ability and knows where to go with the ball. The junior is also a tough defender with the combination of size along with quickness to get all over the ball.
Joey Kohnen – 2028 – SG – Slinger
Kohnen had a huge first half building the lead for Slinger. In the first half alone, the sophomore hit three threes on his way to scoring 15 points and he finished the game with 17 points, leading all in the game. He has a great looking jumper spotting up from three going 3-5 from deep in the game. In his scoring, he also showed his athleticism with an alley-oop lay in as well to hitting 4 free throws. As well to his high skill level and athleticism, Kohnen also has great positional size at 6’5” to be one of the top 2028 recruits in the region.
Leo Weber – 2026 – PG – Notre Dame
The steady point guard was consistently getting two feet into the paint in this game looking to make plays. He led them with 12 points while also adding in 4 assists too. He scored it well off the dribble including a turn around mid-range jumper, a pair of runners in the lane right over defenders, as well as a three off the dribble in the second half to get his team within single digits. As well to his scoring, the point guard plays strong with the ball and passed it well on the move setting up his teammates throughout the game.
