This 4A semifinals matchup was a game of possibly the two top teams in all of Illinois with Benet taking on DePaul Prep. This game featured the 3A state champions from last season in DePaul Prep up against last season’s 4A state champions in Benet.
It was a defensive battle throughout with neither team reaching 40 points between these two highly disciplined and skilled teams. DePaul Prep threw the first punch of the game starting it off 7-2 though Benet was able to quickly answer with the biggest run of the game, an 11-0 one to take the lead.
From their out the game stayed tight until the fourth quarter. While Benet was able to get a 6-point lead in the fourth quarter, DePaul Prep turned up the pressure in the final minutes to make a 6-0 run to tie it all up. With just two seconds on the clock in a tied game, Benet had an inbounds under their own basket and fed their seven-footer Colin Stack. He was able to draw the foul and hit the game winning free throw for the 39-38 victory for Benet and advance to the state championship game versus Marist.
Rashaun Porter – 2026 – DePaul Prep
Porter was his usual highly productive self in this game. This included leading all scorers with 14 points, doing so on 6-9 shooting. He was especially key in the final minutes of the game as Porter scored 9 points in the fourth quarter alone. This included a transition basket with just two minutes left to tie it up off a deflection of his. Even up against a 7’ and 6’8” frontcourt, the strong and physical 6’7” forward scored it effectively inside doing so posting up, on strong drives, and dives to the basket. Porter is committed to Toledo.
Colin Stack – 2026 – C – Benet Academy
After committing a pair of fouls in just the first two minutes of action, Stack stayed on the court and made it count. He was able to lead Benet’s 11-0 run scoring a pair of baskets inside. His biggest moment came with just 1.2 seconds on the clock as he hit the game winning free throw after drawing a foul. He scored it very efficiently inside, shooting 3-4 in the game for 9 points, only missing a three-point attempt. The mobile and lengthy seven-footer also made an impact with his interior defense blocking a shot and forcing a tie up on another shot. He also showed his passing ability with an assist on an alley-oop as well as one on an entry pass. Stack is committed to North Dakota State.
Ed Stasys – 2027 – PF – Benet Academy
It was another productive game for Stasys who has been a key part of Benet’s run to the state title game. This included a double-double in this game with 10 points and 10 rebounds. As well to being 6’8”, the power forward has some strength and plays with plenty of energy. He was extremely effective in the fourth quarter where he scored 6 of his points. He did all his scoring inside including three of his baskets on put backs as well to an alley-oop dunk, which took a 6-point lead with just over 3 minutes to play in the win.
Rykan Woo – 2026 – PG – DePaul Prep
Woo is an extremely quick and active senior who was effective in this game both and off the ball. He scored 11 points including hitting a couple of jumpers in the mid-range quickly coming off screens. He also had a driving and one play to tie it up in the second quarter. Woo was extremely key in the final minutes of the game leading the DePaul Prep comeback. This included a steal ripping the ball away in the press to immediately score a basket and cut the deficit to 2. On the very next play, he came up with another steal and then turned that one into an assist which tied the game up. These were 2 of his 4 steals in the game. Woo is committed to Brown.
Jayden Wright – 2026 – PG – Benet Academy
Wright was able to lead Benet with 11 points in the win. The senior moves extremely well with the ball with his quickness and vision scoring the majority of his points on the attack getting into the paint. This was in addition to hitting an extremely deep three off the dribble out from near the logo. Wright is committed to Eastern Illinois.
