It’s playoff season and plenty of players are stepping up their game to get to state. Here are the top performances from the past week.
Senior Amare Hereford continues to put up some remarkable point totals this season. This included recent games of 51 points and 39 points for Beloit Memorial.
Blake Risler stepped up in a huge way to lead Regis to a regional title. He scored a school record 56 points in the win.
Another player out of Wisconsin setting a school record for scoring in a regional finals win was Jaylen Miggins of Marshall who had 47 points.
6’9” junior Jeffrey Hassan has been a major reason why Kaneland is having an undefeated season and that continued with his performance to get his team to state. Not only did he score a game high 17 points in his super sectionals matchup along with 9 points and 6 blocks, but he also scored the game winning basket with just 2 seconds left.
Charlie Pomis put up a pair of star performances for Hersey. It included 30 points in a double overtime battle to advance his team to the super sectionals. In this game, he scored the tying baskets in both regulation and the first overtime to extend the game. In the game before this, he scored 33 points in the sectional semifinals win.
With 31 points, 10 assists, 7 rebounds and 5 steals, Jace Tonagel led Oak Hill to a sectional championship.
In an overtime game, sophomore guard Bryce LaCross put up 40 points leading Blackhawk Christian to a one point win.
Matthew Kloskey is doing everything he can to help Wauwatosa West win another state title. This included recording 39 points and 7 rebounds followed by 17 points and 5 rebounds to win a regional title.
Ed Stasys has had a pair of recent double-doubles helping Benet advance down to state. This included 19 points and 13 rebounds and then 23 points and 10 rebounds in the super sectionals victory by the 6’8” forward.
Purdue commit Luke Ertel got it all done in a win for Mt. Vernon with 28 points, 8 rebounds, and 5 assists.
Junior Donovan Davis has had some big stat lines throughout his high school career, but this last one may top them all. The 6’8” forward had 36 points and 23 rebounds leading Freedom to a regional championship.
Charles Barnes is a huge reason why Marist is headed to state with his last two performances. This started with 31 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 assists. Then in the super sectionals, the senior wing had a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds.
Ben Bremer played the hero role for Carmel. In the final minute of a prime-time matchup versus Fishers, the senior hit the game winning three.
Senior Brad Blackman did it all for Crane. As well to having a double-double with 14 points and 13 rebounds, he also added in 7 assists and 6 blocks. In the game before that, he had another double-double with 15 points and 17 rebounds.
Sophomore point guard DJ Laye had a trio of do-it-all games to get Chicago Marshall down to Champaign. First it was with 23 points, 10 rebounds, 10 assists, and 6 stelas. This was followed by 10 points, 7 rebounds, and 5 steals. Then in the next game, he had 11 points, 7 assists, and 4 rebounds.
Richmond commit Dane Caldwell had a pair of recent double-doubles for Silver Creek. This included 28 points and 14 rebounds as well as 16 points and 11 rebounds.
