The sectional finals matchup did not disappoint between Hersey and the host Fremd. The game was tight throughout and neither team ever held a double-digit lead. Both Charlie Pomis of Hersey and Jordan Williams of Fremd turned in star performances. Regulation was not enough as this one went into double overtime. While Fremd had their chances to win with leads both towards the end of regulation and first overtime, Hersey was able to win it 73-66. Hersey will play against DePaul Prep on Monday at the NOW Arena.
Logan Luxem – 2026 – PG – Hersey
As well to scoring an efficient 9 points, Luxem was even more key with everything else he did. In just the first few minutes of the game, the senior already had a pair of assists. As well to having good size at 6’3” Luxem is a true point guard who handles ball pressure well, is a skilled passer through traffic, and has good court vision. He made some key plays throughout the second half including hitting a three to start it off as well to forcing a pair of key turnovers in last couple minutes of regulation.
Tommy Moffett – 2026 – SF – Fremd
Moffett showed his scoring versatility to get into double digit points and all-around play. This was headlined by the 6’5” wing hitting a pair of threes in the game including one off the dribble. Moffett also scored it posting up in addition to showing his ability to handle the ball and make plays. In the final minutes of regulation, he also threw a pass right through traffic to the basket from the outside to put Fremd up 7 late.
Charlie Pomis – 2026 – SG – Hersey
Pomis has been having a tremendous senior season and that was the case in this one as he led all with 30 points. This included a driving basket near the end of regulation that sent the game to overtime as well as a three right before the buzzer in the first overtime to extend the game to a second overtime. His key baskets also included a much needed pull up three to interrupt a big Fremd run in the third quarter. As well to hitting three threes in the game, Pomis also showed very good ability with the ball in his hands with good change of direction ability often getting into the paint and finishing. In addition to his scoring Pomis also added in a few assists as well to a pair of blocks.
Tristan Trotter – 2027 – SF – Hersey
Trotter was key piece of this Hersey victory. His play was headlined by his 17 points. The 6’4” junior hit a pair of threes in the win including a much needed one with just over 2 minutes left in regulation to cut the deficit down to 4. In the final minute plus of the second overtime, Trotter was clutch from the line going 4-4. The small forward also plays with good energy and toughness taking a pair of charges in the game as well to some very hard-fought rebounds.
Jordan Williams – 2026 – SF – Fremd
Williams had one more star performance in his stellar high school career as he led Fremd with 29 points in addition to everything else he can do. The Illinois State commit got off to a quick start with 8 first quarter points. He then took over in the third quarter leading Fremd run with 13 points in that quarter alone. Williams is a 6’5” point forward with good strength who was playing very aggressively throughout making plenty of plays. He was consistently getting all the way to the basket using his strength also using it to rebound at a high rate and force multiple turnovers including taking a charge.
