It was a packed house at Fremd for the MSL Championship game up against the visiting Hoffman Estates. The host Fremd got standout performances from their senior trio of Jordan Williams, Tommy Moffett, and Rafael Pinto while Hoffman Estates got one of the best performances of the season from senior Torey Baskin.
It was a dominant first quarter in the game from Fremd who started the game 21-5. Hoffman Estates would not go away easily as they were able to cut the lead all the way down to 3 on a few different occasions in the second half, but never got any closer. Fremd was able to win it 70-62 and capture the conference championship.
Torey Baskin – 2026 – G – Hoffman Estates
Baskin has shined throughout his senior season but took it to another level on this big stage. He led all in the game scoring a staggering 42 points. While he had a good first half, Baskin was unstoppable throughout the second half leading the comeback attempt. On a few occasions he was able to cut the lead down to 3 himself. This included at the end of the third quarter ripping the ball away for a steal and taking it the other way beating the buzzer. In the fourth quarter he hit a step back three and a three from near NBA range which both cut the lead down to 3. As well to these pair of clutch jumpers, most his scoring came on the attack. The senior guard moves so well with the ball slicing through heavy traffic to get all the way to the basket often as well to hitting a few shots pulling up in the mid-range with an effective step back jumper. Baskin also moves very well without the ball with a few early back cuts in the game for baskets. As well to his scoring, he also looked to distribute it finishing the game with four assists showing good vision on the move plus he took a charge.
Tommy Moffett – 2026 – SF – Fremd
Moffett is ending his senior season in a big way. After recently scoring a career high 32 points, he went for an efficient 20 points in the win. He was key building the large first half leading where he hit three threes. In the game, he went 3-6 from the outside but also scored it efficiently driving all the way to the basket. He is a tough straight-line driver who was playing right through defenders as well as using his 6’5” size to finish over defenders too. Moffett also plays well in his role being a versatile defender both inside and out, being a secondary ball handler, and had a couple of assists.
Rafael Pinto – 2026 – SG – Fremd
The 6’5” two guard was clutch both in the beginning of this game as well as in the end for the victory. Pinto who is a very good outside shooter, didn’t hit a three in this game, but was still able to score 17 points. He had an early 8 points building a 19-5 lead for Fremd. Much of this came in transition as he was running the floor hard as well as taking rebounds and going the length of the floor to score it. In the last thirty seconds of the game Pinto was also able to hit three free throws to seal the win as well as grab a key rebound in this stretch.
Jordan Williams – 2026 – SF – Fremd
Williams was his usual self in this game not only leading Fremd with 21 points in the win but also impacting the game in many other ways. The Illinois State commit can do so much on the court as he is a strong 6’6” wing with a very well-rounded game and plays with great passion too. Not only can Williams score it aggressively inside finishing on multiple put backs in this game but also driving right through defenders to the basket or grab rebounds in a ton of traffic but also handle the ball well. Throughout the game, Williams was running the point and did a good job of physically getting to the basket as well as creating for others.
