It was a tight one throughout between Burlington and Waterford in this late season matchup. Waterford got off to a slow start but made a run in the middle of the first half spearheaded by their defensive play and backcourt to then hold a lead for much of the matchup. While Burlington was able to keep it tight throughout and had their opportunities late, Waterford was able to win this one 63-54 pulling away in the final minutes

Jayce Brechtl – 2026 – PF – Waterford

In the win, Brechtl scored 13 points while also grabbing 6 rebounds. He was key leading a comeback charge in the middle of the first half with three baskets in just a few minutes of play. He is 6’6” with a solid build to be effective in the paint on both ends. Brechtl scored it effectively at the basket and scored on a couple of cuts but also shoots it well from the outside hitting a three. The Carroll commit plays tough active defensive in the paint, with hard hedges, and getting on the floor multiple times for loose balls.

Caden Gustafson – 2026 – G – Waterford

The special season continues for Gustafson as he showcased his great scoring ability leading all in the win with 23 points. The Northern Michigan commit can score it in so many ways. Gustafson is a gifted shot maker hitting a pair of threes and a mid-range pullup but was event better finishing around the paint in this game. He plays strong with the ball and moves well with it getting all the way to the basket. On multiple occasions in the win, the senior was able to finish it right around multiple defenders with acrobatic finishes. He was also key with his defensive play in the first half run with a couple of defections leading to turnovers as well as a steal.

Colin Lepisto – 2026 – PG – Waterford

While he may have only scored 9 points in the game on limited shots, the importance of Lepisto cannot be overlooked in this win. He defensive play and distributing all helped Waterford to the win. Both on the ball and in help, he is a high energy aggressive defender with good instincts to get 5 steals in the game and force additional turnovers too. He created so well for his teammates with multiple drive and kick out three, finding cutters through traffic, and dump off assists operating well in the interior. He sees the floor so well knowing where to go with it and was playing a step ahead of the defense.

Grant Sulik – 2026 – SF – Burlington

Sulik led Burlington in the game with 15 points but did plenty more. He is a versatile scorer but much of his scoring with his jumper in this tight game. With his smooth spot up stroke, Sulik hit three threes. He was also able to score it posting up and driving to the basket. He stands at 6’4” plus has a strong frame. Sulik plays big defensively inside but also defends tough out on the perimeter too. He is committed to UW-Eau Claire for football.
