Over the past several months, Mack Welker has been one of the fastest rising players in the regions 2027 class. This started with his grassroots season with the Indy Heat and has continued into his junior season with Homestead High School for the 6’7” forward.
During the first several months of 2025, Welker received multiple offers which all came from NAIA programs. The NAIA programs to have offered him are Indiana Tech, Indiana Wesleyan, and University of St. Francis. Then in July during his grassroots season, he was a part of the Indy Heat team that won the Nike EYBL 16U championship.
Following that, saw his recruitment greatly build. In September, he picked up his first division one offer which came from Purdue Fort Wayne. Following that in December he also got another division one offer with one from Central Michigan. He is also receiving interest from several other division one programs and taken visits to a few of these. Some of these schools recruiting him include Appalachian State, Bellarmine, Coastal Carolina, Evansville, Illinois State, Indiana State, Ken State, Toledo, Wright State, UIC, and others.
Most recently in his visits, he went to Wright State back in January which he called a good visit. “It was nice connecting with the coaches again and seeing the players in live action,” Welker said about the visit.
Welker has been having a standout junior season as he’s averaging a double-double to have Homestead at a 13-5 record currently. His stat line for the season includes 20.6 points, 10.8 rebounds, and 2.3 assists. When talking about his game, he said “I’m a three-level scorer who defends and plays at a high level. I’m willing to play many roles and adjust to coach’s needs.”
