It was a game of two halves in the second game of the When Sides Collide Shootout. Bolingbrook had a strong first half behind their guard duo of Brady Pettigrew and TJ Williams who were both into double digits scoring by the half. However, the second half was all Neuqua Valley behind their duo of Cole Kelly and Mason Martin to lead them to the win.
Cole Kelly – 2028 – SF – Neuqua Valley
Kelly scored 7 points in the first half but turned his game up a level in the third quarter to lead a comeback win. He scored 13 points alone in the third quarter to turn a 10-point halftime deficit to a 3-point lead at the end of three. Kelly continued to score it well throughout the fourth quarter to finish the game with 29 points. While only a sophomore, he has such a great blend of abilities standing at 6’7” with a good build and his all-around game. He is so tough to defend on the attack as he uses his size to play through a ton of contact and finish it so well with multiple and one plays, Kelly also scored it posting up, and hitting some jumpers in the mid-range and outside. As well to his scoring, he also grabbed double digit rebounds and blocked several shots.
Mason Martin – 2027 – SG – Neuqua Valley
The breakout junior season continued for Martin in the win. He started the game hot hitting a pair of threes in the first quarter and kept on his hot shooting from there. In the game, he hit six threes to finish with 28 points. Not only does Martin have a pure jumper but also gets into his shot quickly off the catch and hit a step back three. Martin has continued to add to his game as he’s much more than just a knockdown outside shooter. He showed improved playmaking ability handling the ball and making a few good passes creating for his teammates. Martin recently committed to Illinois.
Brady Pettigrew – 2028 – G – Bolingbrook
There are few sophomores with the scoring ability of Pettigrew. In the first quarter alone, the guard hit three pull up jumpers. He so incredibly tough to defend off the dribble with his ability to beat defenders in a variety of ways and score it from all three levels. He is especially tough on the attack as he moves so well with the ball getting to his spots and finishing all around the paint and mid-range. Even while seeing a ton of defensive attention including double or triple team on his drives, Pettigrew still scored 26 points in the game. In the final several minutes of the game, the sophomore led a furious scoring run of his own as he kept getting to the basket including multiple three point plays.
TJ Williams – 2026 – G – Bolingbrook
Williams has continued to have a productive senior season for Bolingbrook including recently scoring his 1,000th career point. The long 6’3” guard finished the game with 19 points and also made some plays on the defensive side as well to his rebounding ability. On the very first play of the game he drilled a pull up jumper. In both the half court and transition game, he scored it well getting to the basket and finishing it at a high percentage. The athletic senior is one of the better available guards in Illinois’ 2026 class.
