The feature game of the MLK Suburban Classic at Homewood-Flossmoor faced off one of Illinois’ top teams up against one of the best from Missouri in Benet Academy taking on Chaminade. The game was extremely tight throughout the first half, though Benet started to pull away towards the end of the third quarter. By the end of the third they were able to build a 14-point lead and used that to cruise to the 72-54 win.
Jonny Jordan – 2026 – PG – Chaminade
It was an effective game for Jordan who led all with 17 points. He got off to a quick start hitting a three on Chaminade’s first possession of the game and in the first quarter scored 6 points in addition to 3 assists. Jordan is a highly skilled playmaking point guard with a good ability to create for himself and others. He showed his shot making ability including hitting a deep three off the dribble but also moves so well with the ball with his tight handle and moves getting into the paint. Jordan is committed to Omaha.
Mohamed Kourouma – 2028 – PF – Chaminade
After getting it done with his scoring last weekend at the Highland Shootout with 22 points, Kourouma was more of a standout with his defensive play in this one. As well to being 6’8”, Kourouma is a physical and athletic forward with a consistent big motor too. He was all over the paint defensively in help moving well at his size to block 5 shots in the game but also battled well versus the 7’1” Stack. Look for the sophomore to be a very popular name amongst college coaches in the future with all he can do and his great upside.
Ethan MacDermot – 2026 – SG – Benet
The 6’3” two guard took advantage of all his opportunities as part of this deep and talented Benet squad to score an efficient 13 points. MacDermot has a pure jumper from the outside hitting three threes in the winning effort. When spotting up from the outside, the senior was just not missing. Even while hot from the outside, he did not force anything and still made smart plays with an extra pass getting his teammate a better shot. He also showed his ability to handle the ball and get to the basket including an and-one driving basket.
Colin Stack – 2026 – C – Benet
The lengthy seven-foot one post was getting it done on both ends of the floor in the Benet victory. Even with limited paint touches, Stack was still able to score 15 points. This included four dunks in the game as with his great size and length, Stack just could not be stopped when he got the ball inside. He was just as key with his defensive play not only blocking a pair of shots but also limiting any points inside all game by impeding drivers and forcing tough shots over him. Stack is committed to North Dakota State.
Jayden Wright – 2026 – PG – Benet
Wright is a pure point guard with all the tools. The high IQ floor general plays strong with the ball handling a ton of ball pressure all game. He showed good court awareness and vision plus was often getting into the paint and creating for others with his passing ability. Even while collecting several assists in the game, Wright also scored 15 points in the win. Wright shot it well from the outside hitting a couple of threes but was also getting to the line often aggressively attacking the basket. Wright is committed to Eastern Illinois.
