From the start to the finish, this one was tight with Port Washington traveling to take on Slinger. While Slinger was able to build a small lead, Port Washington made some key plays in the final couple of minutes. While down one with time running out, they got the game winning basket from Izaiah Scheftgen in the 57-56 to knock off one of the better teams in the state.

Grady Karrels – 2026 – SF – Port Washington

Karrels did a bit of everything in this game helping Port Washington to the win. The small forward showed his ability to score, rebound, distribute, and defend. He scored 15 points in the win, but his impact went much greater. He brings some size at 6’4” but also ran the point and played some extremely tough defense limiting some of the opponents’ top players. He scored it in a variety of ways including hitting a pair of threes, mid-range jumper, and some strong drives to the basket but also played smart with the ball showing a good passing ability.

Joey Kohnen – 2028 – SG – Slinger

After a recent 33-point game, the younger Kohnen continues to show his scoring ability. This included 17 points in the first half alone of this game. He got off to an extremely quick start scoring his team’s first two baskets and hitting double digits scoring in the first 9 minutes of play. He has a smooth jumper spotting up from the outside but also showed a good ability to get to his spots in the paint and finish over defenders. As just a sophomore, Kohnen already has an extremely high skill level, knows how to play, and has good positional size at 6’4”. Kohnen already holds multiple high major offers included ones from Iowa State and Wisconsin.

Cal Loose – 2026 – G – Port Washington

Loose was key in the win with his scoring ability finishing the game with a team high 18 points as he continues his high scoring senior season. The guard can really shoot the basketball hitting a trio of threes as well to creating for himself in the mid-range. As well to his scoring, Loose also made a few key defensive plays including collecting multiple steals in the game. The available senior has offers from division three and NAIA programs.

Brett Palm – 2026 – G – Slinger

On both the offensive and defensive side, the senior guard was making plays for Slinger all game. He is a quick guard that is very active both defending his man, in help, and in the passing lanes. In the game, he was able to grab 5 steals and turned a few of them into baskets the other way. Whether in transition or in the half court he was getting into the paint to dish it out, finish, or get himself to the line.

Izaiah Scheftgen – 2026 – SF – Port Washington

While Scheftgen is signed to St. Thomas for football, he is also a highly impactful forward on the hardwood. He was especially key in the final minute of this game. This started on the defensive side poking the ball loose and then diving on the floor for the steal to give his team possession when down one with under a minute to play. Then on the next play, he scored the game winning basket inside with just 10 seconds to play. He also made plenty of key plays throughout scoring 15 points in addition to his high energy play both defensively and on the glass from the strong and aggressive 6’3” small forward.
