On Saturday evening Kansas landed one of major prizes in the nations 2024 recruitment class with a commitment from Flory Bidunga. The 6’9” center of Indiana Elite and Kokomo High School is widely considered one of the top five players nationwide in his class. As a junior this past season, he was named Gatorade player of the year in Indiana.
The five-star center made his commitment during the Under Armour Next Elite 24. He chose the Jayhawks over his other finalist of Auburn, Duke, and Michigan. As well to the four finalists, he also had offers from Florida, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisville, Michigan State, Purdue, among other top programs.
The commitment comes after Bidunga was initially offered by Bill Self and staff back in September of last year. The Congo native then took his official visit to Lawrence, Kansas in May. He marks the first commitment for the Jayhawks 2024 recruitment class.
From day one, Kansas should be getting a dominant rim protector as well as rebounder. With his size, motor, length, and explosive, these abilities are on an elite level already. Offensively, he is a rim running big man who is a lob threat. He has an expanded game as he is effective playing with his back to the basket but can also play facing up. In addition to having extended his shooting range and he is a skilled passing big man.
