With the grassroots season over, commitment season is starting to hit full gear. The most recent commitment from Illinois 2024 class came from Cale Cosme. The point guard of Brother Rice High School in Chicago and ET21 Buckeyes made his selection to nearby Lewis University.
The road of Cosme to Lewis University quickly came along. The division two program initially offered the floor general at the end of June and he then took a visit a few weeks later in the middle of July. “It was a great experience getting to the campus and meet with the coaches and see everything they had to offer,” Cosme said about his trip to the Romeoville, Illinois campus.
“I really like the connections I made with the coaching staff,” was the first response Cosme gave as to what he likes about Lewis. He added in, “Everything the program has to offer, I really liked the academics too, it really just felt like home.”
The point guard likes multiple aspects of Lewis’s play on the court to see his game fitting in there. “I really like what they have going on at Lewis. I like the style and pace they play at. I like the way the coaches handle the players; it seems like somewhere I could become a better athlete and a better person.” Lewis is landing one of most dynamic playmaking point guards from Illinois’ 2024 class. Cosme is a high IQ point guard who has a great ability to score the ball himself as well as create for teammates at a high level.
