After being one of the biggest 2024 stock boosters on the NY2LA Association this season, Stoney Hadnot has now made his college commitment. While the 6’6” wing of Cypress Springs High School (TX) and Team Temple entered the spring with no division one offers, that quickly changed following the April live periods.
Over the past few months, Hadnot was able to pull in offers from South Dakota State, Southern Illinois Edwardsville, and UC-Riverside. The rising senior ending up choosing South Dakota State out of the trio of division one offers. He also received interest from a number of programs nationwide including Colorado State, Cornell, Longwood, Rice, Sam Houston State, SMU, among others.
There were a variety of reasons that went into Hadnot choosing the Jackrabbits over his other offers. “They treated me like family as soon as they texted me. Very welcoming program and they got to know my family really well. They also develop players really well and one of my former teammates plays there now.”
Hadnot is an explosive wing that will be bringing elite athleticism plus good length. “My game goes well with South Dakota State because they let their players play freely and without too many restrictions,” he said about his game fitting in there. “I won’t have to be nervous to make a mistake on the court and get subbed out immediately. They also get out in transition and I thrive in that area of my game.”
While he has not taken a visit yet to his future school up north to Brookings, he is looking forward to in September.
