All the breakout play of Camden Cerese has finally paid off for the rising senior in the form of his first scholarship offer. The 6’3” point guard was one of the biggest breakout stars in the Chicagoland area during the past high school season for Lake Park while averaging 21 points and being named third team 4A all-state by the IBCA. He followed up his junior season with a stellar spring playing for a deep Greater Purpose Athletics team.
The offer for Cerese came from nearby division two program Lewis University. “It feels great,” he said about receiving the offer. “Definitely took a weight of my shoulders.” As well to the offer, he also has interest from several division two and one programs that includes Hillsdale, Indianapolis, Purdue Northwest, St. Leo, and UIC.
While he has yet to visit Lewis, there are already a couple of things he likes about their basketball program. “It seems like a great program and that they believed in me as to be my first offer. The coaching staff seems very great and supportive. It is also very close to my home.”
There are various things Cerese is looking for in his future collegiate basketball program. “The main thing for me is to develop me as the best player I can be but also to develop me as a person. I want to go to a program that makes me feel comfortable and to have a great college experience on and off the court.”
