It has been a big several months for Matthew Zobrist. First, it was an Illinois 3A state championship playing with Metamora High School during his sophomore season. Next up he had a strong spring with MidPro Academy. Following the big winter and spring seasons, the 6’5” rising junior has now picked up his first scholarship offer.

The offer came from Eastern Illinois University. “I was super excited about receiving an offer, especially division one. It pushes me to work even harder to exceed those division one expectations,” Zobrist said about picking up his first offer.

In addition to the offer, there have been a few new coaches contacting him since they could contact his 2025 class. Bradley, Cal Poly, and Winona State are amongst the programs to have reached out to him in the past few days.

Throughout the spring with MidPro, Zobrist showcased plenty of abilities. “I would describe my game as a three-level scorer. I can shoot the ball and have good vision and can finish around the basket.” He feels during the spring season he was able to display his scoring ability more. “Spring was a lot of fun. Jumping back into that role of scoring more than in school ball, so just adjusting from one play style to another. Our team is super talented with tons of guard talent and lots of depth.”

College coaches can watch Zobrist this upcoming weekend at the Edwardsville High School Live Showcase and then on the NY2LA Association in July.
