One of the newest players to receive their first scholarship offer from Illinois is Hank Alvey. The offer comes after impressive back-to-back weekends with MidPro Academy for the 6’9” power forward at the NY2LA Spring Extravaganza and Grassroots Showcase.

The offer for the Illini Bluffs High School junior came from Quincy University last weekend. As well to the offer, there are a number of division one and two programs showing interest as his stock continues to greatly build. “It feels great,” Alvey said about receiving his first offer. “Hoping more come throughout the summer.”

While he has not visited Quincy yet, Alvey is planning on making a trip to the in-state school in the coming weeks. When asked about Quincy, he responded “The coaching staff is very personable and definitely made me feel valued.”

Even as a consistent standout this spring, Alvey is not satisfied with his play yet. “It’s been good. Not playing my best ball yet but getting better with the team every weekend.” Alvey is a high energy and mobile big man that can not only be a force down in the paint but also stretch the floor hitting threes. As well to excelling on the hardwood, Alvey stars in the classroom with a 4.0 GPA and tied for first in his class rank.
