Nebraska and head coach Fred Hoiberg started their 2024 recruitment class in a big way this weekend. On Friday, Nick Janowski announced his commitment to the Huskers. Janowski, a 6’3” guard of Pewaukee High School and Phenom University, is the third ranked player in NY2LA’s Wisconsin 2024 rankings as well as a top one hundred nationally ranked player.
The commitment comes after Janowski took his official visit to Nebraska just a few weeks ago in the end of March. This is a major addition for Hoiberg and staff as they were able to beat out multiple Big Ten schools as well to ACC, Big 12, Big East, and Pac 12 programs in landing the highly touted junior. Nebraska landed Janowski over his others offers from Georgia Tech, Iowa, Iowa State, Marquette, USC, Virginia Tech, and Wisconsin.
In his junior season, Janowski averaged 23.2 points a game for Pewaukee and helped them capture another state championship as well to being named to the AP first-team all-state. In each of his three seasons at Pewaukee, Janowski has played a large role in helping them capture a state championship.
Nebraska is landing one of the elite shot makers in the 2024 class. He excels playing with the ball in his hands with his ability to create separation and hit shots off the dribble from the outside. This past season at Pewaukee, he hit 42% of his three-point attempts. More than just a shooter, Janowski can run the point and create for his teammates having 4.9 assists for Pewaukee this past season.
