One of the top available seniors in all of New England has made their college commitment. Alvin Baez had announced his commitment to Adelphi University on Thursday.
The 6’4” guard of Springfield Commonwealth Academy (MA) and the Rhode Island Elite program chose Adelphi over an offer from Post University. Plus, he had interest from a number of division one and two programs including California Baptist, Merrimack, New Haven, Quinnipiac, and Stonehill.
The commitment comes a few weeks after Adelphi had offered the senior a scholarship back in the middle of February. He is making his commitment after taking a visit to the New York campus just last Monday. Baez had very high praise regarding the trip, saying “I loved it.”
There were a few different factors that came into play in Baez choosing Adelphi. “Coaching staff, environment, and good people,” Baez gave as the main reasons in his college selection. The 6’4” guard sees himself fitting in with their team with his versatility and “winning to do anything.” As well as saying, “I feel that I bring a certain level of toughness.” Baez is a combo guard with good size that is an impactful player on both ends of the court.
