One of the most skilled 2024 scorers in Kentucky and the entire region is Jay Rose. In his junior season, the 6’4” two guard averaged 21.1 points and 7.8 rebounds for Madison Southern High School to help them to a 19-14 record.

Even as a junior, Rose already surpassed the lofty 1,500-career point park as well to setting his schools record for points at 697. While he is an incredibly skilled shot maker, Rose is also a complete scorer. He has a great ability to his shots from the outside but can also make plays off the dribble and get to the rim. More than just skilled, Rose is a high IQ wing guard with great feel. He is a skilled playmaker who knows how to play.

Right now, South Alabama is the one school to have offered him a scholarship. The Sun Belt Conference school had offered Rose last spring following the April live periods. The “burn the boats culture” of South Alabama is something that has stood out to Rose so far. “Love the enthusiasm of the coaches, all-around great energy on campus,” he said. Last fall, he took a visit south to their campus. “The visit was great, campus is beautiful, players and coaches were great, and amazing facilities.”

Some other schools that have been in touch with Rose include Chattanooga, Cleveland State, Eastern Kentucky, IUPUI, and Morehead State. While he has no current visits setup, he is in the process of setting some up for the spring. After just finishing his high school season, Rose should continue to be a popular name amongst low major and mid major coaches this upcoming spring playing with Griffin Elite.
