Over the past several months, the recruitment has continued to heat up Malachi Moreno. The 6’11” sophomore has established himself as one of the top big men and top fifty players in the 2025 class nationally.

Right now, in his sophomore season he is averaging 15.4 points and 11.7 rebounds for Great Crossing High School (KY). From last June the high major offers have continued to pour in for Moreno. While not even halfway through his high school career, he already holds offers from Cincinnati, Eastern Kentucky, Indiana, Iowa, Missouri, Ohio State, and Purdue. Some of the other schools recruiting him that have not offered yet include Arkansas, Michigan, Tennessee, Western Kentucky, and West Virginia.

While he has eight offers and plenty of interest, there are a few programs recruiting him the hardest. Moreno says that Indiana, Purdue, West Virginia, and Xavier are putting in the most work right now recruiting him.

“Stretch four,” is how Moreno described his own game. “I play the majority inside the paint, but I can also stretch the floor. I compare myself to Tim Duncan. I use my length to my advantage and play at my pace. I don’t allow defenses to speed me up. I just play my role and do what I do.”

Moreno and Great Crossing will be going for a district championship on Friday. The sophomore should be an extremely popular target this spring when playing for Indiana Elite.
