The growing trend of top one hundred juniors making an early commitment continues with Tahaad Pettiford making his college selection today on Wednesday. After just announcing his top seven a month ago in early January, the point guard of Hudson Catholic High School (NJ) and New Heights Lightning has focused in on his future school.

Pettiford, a top thirty player nationally in the 2024 class, announced his commitment to Auburn. In landing the highly touted junior point guard, Bruce Pearl and staff were able to beat out a hefty list of competitors including some blue blood programs. He chose Auburn over his other finalist of Kansas, Kentucky, Ole Miss, Seton Hall, UCLA, and UConn. Other programs to had previously offered him not in his final seven included Maryland, Kansas State, Rutgers, St. John’s, Tennessee, and others.

The commitment comes after Pettiford was offered by Auburn last summer in July. He then took his official visit south to Auburn in October. He makes the second commitment in Auburn’s 2024 recruitment class. The point guard joins Peyton Marshall, a 7’0” center out of Georgia, who is ranked as a top one hundred player in the class nationally.

The junior is a point guard who should make an immediate impact when he steps foot on campus in a year and a half. Pettiford is one of the most explosive guards nationally in the 2024 class. He is a true playmaker with the ball in his hands who excels at getting into the paint. Pettiford is one of the top scoring guards in his class.
