Over the course of the past year and especially during this high school season, the recruitment stock of Joey Cabana has continued to increase. The 6’2” point guard of Chelsea High School (MI) and DTO Elite has continued to grow his list of interest and offers as he is having a standout junior season. Right now, Cabana is averaging 23 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists, and 2 steals to have led his team to a near perfect record sitting at 12-1.

Cabana currently holds offers from both division one and two programs coming from Grand Valley State, Lake Superior State, Northwood, and Youngstown State. As well the amount of interested division one programs continues to grow with Cleveland State, Eastern Michigan, Robert Morris, Toledo, and Western Michigan amongst this group.

On Sunday, the junior took a visit to one of these programs in Robert Morris of the Horizon League for their game against Oakland University. “I loved all the coaches there, they have great facilities and love their arena,” Cabana said about his visit to the Pennsylvania school.

Cabana sees himself as a three-level scorer. “I can shoot the three, my pull up is the best part of my game and I can get to the rim,” he said about his game. If Cabana can continue this high level of scoring he has with Chelsea into the spring with DTO Elite, look for the interest from these division one programs to turn into some additional offers for the skilled 2024 guard.
