The growing trend in today’s recruiting landscape has been the early commitment. Nearly all of the top one hundred 2023 prospects nationally have made their commitments and now it is on to the 2024 class.
Elliot Cadeau, Rob Dockery, James Brown, Jamari Phillips, and Peyton Marshall are all top fifty juniors to make a commitment recently and the newest is Yves Missi. The 6’11” post recently announced a top three of Baylor, Texas, and Stanford. He had previously been offered by Indiana, Kansas, Michigan, Ohio State, Syracuse, UCLA, UConn, and others.
On Tuesday, Missi announced his commitment to Baylor and head coach Scott Drew. Baylor is landing one of the top centers in the 2024 class and a consensus top twenty-five ranked recruit. Missi is currently in his first year attending Prolific Prep and plays with the PSA Cardinals. The Cameroon native is a long and powerful post who is an extremely impactful player on both ends of the floor. Even with his strong frame, he is a mobile big man who is very active running the floor. Offensively, he is a strong scorer inside and a lob threat plus also shows the potential to be a stretch post with a developing jump shot. Defensively, he shows the ability to be one of the top rim protectors in the class with his physical tools plus aggressive style of play.
Missi marks the third commitment in Baylor’s 2024 recruitment class already. He joins forward Jason Asemota of Hillcrest Prep and point guard Robert Wright III of Neumann-Goretti High School. The trio has all the makings of a recruitment class which could end up as a top five class nationally.
