2024 G Kahmare Holmes already had some familiarity with Georgia after playing with the Atlanta Celtics during the travel season but made the move down to the Peach State for good following the summer, coming to Archer High School from the Charlotte area. He has not wasted any time in proving himself as one of the better 2024 prospects in the whole state. Holmes started out with a strong fall, highlighted by being named a Top 5 performer at the Relentless Hoops 2024 Select 80 Camp. His production has not wavered since then as he has led Archer to an 11-2 record halfway through the 2022-23 season.
Most recently, Archer took home the title in the inaugural Buford Classic, defeating the hosting Buford Wolves in the championship. Holmes was named MVP of the tournament with a 23-point showing in the final game after outings of 16 & 15 in Archer’s 2 previous matchups. The Tigers defeated West Forsyth and Sequoyah before taking down Buford in a tight battle. Currently, Holmes is averaging 17.5 PPG, 5.5 RPG, and 2.7 SPG while shooting 52% from the field on the year.
The fit at Archer has been perfect for Holmes. He brings the type of approach and mentality that is demanded of Archer players, which has allowed for limited issues in adapting to their style. Holmes has good size in the backcourt as a strong, solid 6’4” who can guard a variety of spots at the high school level. He has the length & feet to hound smaller guards while being tough enough to defend some forwards as well. Offensively, he can get going quickly with fast, physical drives and a reliable pull-up game.
Holmes visited UGA last night for their game against Auburn and has started to gain the attention of numerous MM programs as well. I believe that he’ll continue to gain momentum and will be a popular watch throughout the spring & summer. Given others that I’ve watched from the state in the past, he has a similar mixture of toughness, competitiveness, and skill that quickly gains the liking of college coaches. There may not be some of the raw talent that you see with highly recruited prospects, but Holmes is one that I’d usually count on to produce & get the job done over most others.
