After previously looking at our top five in the NY2LA Illinois 2024 rankings, we take a look at the next five. The first five of the rankings are James Brown, Morez Johnson, Nojus Indrusaitis, Cooper Koch, and Jaheem Webber. Here are the sixth through tenth players in the rankings.
Cole Certa – 2024 – SG – Illinois Wolves – Bloomington Central Catholic
Certa is one of the most skilled scorers in the entire state regardless of class. Not only does he have good size in the backcourt at 6’5” but is also a gifted shot maker. He is a pure knockdown spot up shooter but can also create his own shot from the outside. Cetra has continued to pull in offers including Bradley, Drake, Eastern Michigan, Illinois State, Loyola-Chicago, Northwestern, Southern Illinois, and Toledo.
Chris Riddle – 2024 – G/F – Mac Irvin Fire – Kenwood Academy
After moving back to Illinois after a season at Compass Prep, Riddle finds his spot cemented in the top 10 of the rankings. He is a strong and athletic 6’6” wing with plenty of tools for the next level that has continued to attract colleges to him. Bradley, Eastern Michigan, Illinois, Nevada, Northern Illinois, Portland, Texas Tech, Toledo, and UNLV have all offered him.
Carlos Harris – 2024 – G – Meanstreets – Curie
Between his play with the Meanstreets and Curie over the past year, Harris has continued to climb the rankings to be one of the top 2024 guards in the state and eighth on this list. He is a smart and explosive point guard who knows how to play and excels playing on the attack. The junior has a great ability to both score and distribute the ball at a high level. So far, Illinois and Northern Illinois have offered him.
Josh Pickett – 2024 – G – Mac Irvin Fire – West Aurora
Pickett is one of the higher upside players in the entire 2024 class. With his positional size, shot making, ability to run the point, and athleticism, the guard has so many tools for the next level. He also excels in the classroom as well to have five offers including George Washington, Northwestern, UIC, University of San Diego, and Western Illinois.
Payton Kamin – 2024 – SG – Illinois Wolves – DePaul Prep
Kamin has very good size at 6’7” but also the skill to go with it. He is another player on this list that is one of the top shooters in the state with great range. He is off to a strong junior season which includes a 29-point game. Northern Illinois and Western Illinois have offered him so far but look for more to come in as his game continues to take great strides.
