From the Buckeyes to the Wolverines. The once Ohio State commit, George Washington III, has now committed to Michigan on Tuesday. The nationally ranked prospect marks another recruiting coup for head coach Juwan Howard and the Michigan coaching staff. The senior is a 6’3” guard who attends Chaminade Julienne High School and played with the All Ohio this year.

Washington III had initially committed to Ohio State last year in November. Though following a visit to Columbus back in September, he opened up his recruitment from the Buckeyes. After opening his recruitment, Dayton, Louisville, Virginia and Wake Forest were his finalist along with Michigan. The commitment comes after Washington III took an official visit to Ann Arbor just under a month ago back in October.

Michigan is landing one of the top scoring guards in the 2023 class. He is a knockdown shooter with deep range that can hit shots off the catch and dribble at a high percentage. He has a pure stroke from the outside with a quick release. Much more than just a shooter, he is a quality playmaker off the dribble attacking the basket.

He is the second commitment joining 6’10” post Papa Kante of the South Kent School in Michigan’s 2023 recruitment class to date.
