The newest member of Ohio’s 2025 class to receive their first scholarship offer is Jekel Cotton. Following an impressive season with All Ohio Select, the 6’4” guard of Lima High School picked up an offer from Bowling Green.
“It feels good but it’s really just motivation to keep working and now I got to work even harder than everyone else,” was Cotton’s feeling about receiving his first scholarship offer. Following receiving the offer from Bowling Green last week, Cotton took a visit to the in-state school this past weekend. “The visit was really nice; I really like the coaching staff and their court and facility. The campus was also nice. It was definitely a great experience.”
With his impressive play throughout the spring and summer, Cotton was named to the NY2LA 15U All-Association First Team. He was a key piece of the All Ohio Select team that captured the NY2LA Association Championship at the Final Chapter tournament to end the summer. All season, Cotton was one of the top shooters on the association regardless of age level. “The season was great and had a great time with my new teammates.”
Following his championship run on the grassroots platform, Cotton is looking to earn some additional hardware. “I would like to make a run to state,” is his goal for his upcoming sophomore high school season.
