The top players from Illinois’ 2023 class continue to fly off the board making their college commitments. The newest being Quentin Jones of Marian Catholic High School and Team FVV. The 6’5” guard chose Cal Poly over a few other scholarship offers.

The commitment comes after Jones took a visit to Cal Poly just two weeks ago. “It was a fun experience. I got to see the nice scenery of California and experienced the view of campus.”

Over the past several months, Jones has been one of the fastest rising prospects in the entire Midwest. While he only received his first scholarship offer just back in April, he ended up having several to choose from. Cal State Fullerton, Kent State, Lewis, Northern Illinois, and Radford had all also offered him in the past few months as he became of the top two-way guards in all of Illinois.

“The high level of interest they showed and the constant communication,” Jones said is what set Cal Poly apart from the other programs that had offered him. When asked what he likes most about his future collegiate program, he said “the coaching staff is very close, and the team has a good bond.”

While he still has his senior year before stepping foot on campus in San Luis Obispo, California, he has already some expectations for his college basketball career. “I see myself coming in as a true freshman and making a high impact.”
