3D Empire 17U has continuously performed at a high level this year on the NY2LA Association and a large reason for that has been the play of Bobby McWard. From his play, the rising senior 6’3” guard of McKinney Christian in Texas was finally rewarded with his first division one offer recently.
Last week following the Best of the South Tournament, McWard was offered by Army West Point. “It feels amazing getting my first offer and all the glory to God. It’s hard to put the feelings into words but I’m so happy that all my hard work is starting to pay off,” he said about getting his first offer.
McWard visited West Point in June for their elite camp and there are already a few things he likes about the school and basketball program. “I love the coaching staff Coach Allen has assembled this year…The campus is amazing, and the academics are top ten in the world.”
While up until the last year McWard had not considered attending a service academy but that is becoming more of a though for him. “Recently though I have really considered the service academies and I would love the opportunity to play basketball and serve my country. My family has a history of service as my dad and grandpa both served in the Army so to be offered by them is a dream come true.”
While Army West Point is the only offer, they are not the only service academy to be recruiting McWard as Air Force also is. Other programs interested in him include Colgate, Cornell, Eastern Illinois, and South Dakota. College coaches can see McWard and 3D Empire during this second July live period at the NY2LA Final Chapter where they will face off today in a highly anticipated matchup versus MidPro Academy.
