One of the top players this spring on the entire NY2LA Association has been Gehrig Normand. During both the first and second sessions of the NY2LA Association, the 6’5” guard was able to earn himself first team honors while playing with 3D Empire.
With his versatile scoring ability, athleticism, play making ability off the dribble, positional size, Normand has become a very sought-after recruit in the 2023 class. Over the past year, Normand has received several division one offers for himself. Colorado State, Kansas State, New Mexico, Oral Roberts, Rice, Texas Rio Grande Valley, and Tulsa have all offered him. As well to his offers, a few other schools to have shown interest including Air Force, Cornell, Indiana State, SMU, and Xavier. The one visit he currently has scheduled for this summer is Colorado State.
“Smart,” was the first word Normand used to describe his own game. Also adding in, “Making right plays, being able to defend, and make plays for myself and teammates. Able to put the ball in the basket in any situation.”
Over the course of his junior season at Birdville High School (TX), Normand averaged 12 points, 8 rebounds, 6 assists, and 2 steals per game. Normand has a great array of tools that translate to the collegiate level. He should continue to be a very popular name amongst college coaches over the next few months.
