While many are often to be reserved in terms of projecting long term basketball prospects who are still young and yet to mature physically, class of 2024 Dallas Thomas has all the makings of a big-time long-term prospect. The 6’7 SF out of Little Rock, Arkansas has already proved in a brief time that his name is to be mentioned with not only the best players in the state but also nationally. The Parkview Magnet High star absolutely loves to be in the gym and constantly wants to get better and it is scary how good he can be with this type of attitude.
Thomas is a nightmare matchup for opposing defensives that plan for him. He possesses a unique ability to consistently make plays on the court. Whether it is coming off screens and hitting mid-range jump shots or putting the ball on the floor and blowing by defenders, he seems to always know when it is time to make something happen. His length and confidence give him the ability to get his shot off against most defenders his age. His ball handling skills are still improving but he does possess the skill set to put the ball on the floor with either hand or drive to the basket. He is always in attack mode and on the offensive end of the floor he is as polished of a recruit that you will find out there.
Defensively he plays the passing lanes very well in terms of getting steals and causing deflections. He is sound on the ball and can keep his opponents in front on him. He will need to add some bulk but currently is tough enough to play in post situations against players who may physically be stronger as of now. He can guard multiple positions on the floor and is great in situations where he must switch off and play against smaller guards. He is also a very sound rebounder who understands positioning and boxing out and can start the transition break and create opportunities for his teammates. This past travel season he began to attract attention from all over as a top fifty recruit nationally.
He currently holds offers from the likes of Auburn, Illinois, Houston, Missouri St, St. Johns, TCU, Texas A&M, Tulsa, and Arkansas. This list will keep growing as continues to develop his skills as a national recruit.
