Over the last several months one of the fastest rising 2023 recruits in the entire nation has been Lawrent Rice. The guard of Wayne High School in Ohio has continued to earn himself offer after offer this year.
Since June he has earned some prominent offers including Arizona State, Dayton, Georgetown, Louisville, Marquette, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Penn State, VCU, West Virginia, and Xavier. Other schools to have previously offered him include Central Michigan, Kansas State, Ohio, and Purdue. Some other programs to have shown interest in Rice include Indiana, Michigan, Michigan State, Syracuse, among others.
“It has felt amazing to receive these high major offers. I feel like my hard work is starting to pay off,” Rice commented on the big additions to his offer list. He also said, “It’s just adding more motivation for me going into the season because I still feel like I have more to prove. I know I have to keep working harder though because it’s just making my target bigger.”
Rice is a dynamic playmaking guard with some size at 6’4” as well as good length. He’s at his best off the dribble attacking with his quickness and ability to create well for himself and teammates. He has a very good ability to get to the basket in a hurry and finishes well around posts inside. As well, Rice is a skilled passer who sees the floor well on the move.
Rice’s recruitment soared this year while playing with All Ohio of the EYBL. When talking about his time with them he said, “It gave me a huge opportunity to play against top players and prove myself and also play in front of a lot of coaches.”
While it is still somewhat early in his recruitment process just starting his junior season, there are already some schools standing out to him. Dayton, Louisville, Marquette, Ohio State, and Purdue are among these schools now.
