Much has been said about the state of Texas regarding high level recruits over the past few years on the basketball court. There also is a crop of division one level talent that has flown under the radar in some regards nationally. Class of 2023 Jacolb Cole, a 6’8 do it all wing out of Bellaire, TX has emerged as one of those flying under the radar but that could very well change soon. Simply put, he has all the makings to be one of the top recruits in the region and beyond once it is all said and done.
Cole is extremely efficient on the basketball court. One is his biggest skill sets is his ability to impact the game and make his teammates better. He has incredible court vision and puts people in position to finish when delivers passes. He has above average ball handling skills and thrives off putting the ball on the floor and finishing above the rim. He can score with either hand at the rim, and recently has developed the ability to pull up and hit the mid-range jump shot. While his three-point shot is steadily improving, he has grown more comfortable stepping back and consistently knocking down the three. He is the ultimate competitor who never gives up on a play and this translates to his ability to impact the floor on the defensive end as well.

He has great length defensively and this helps him keep most opponents in front of him while defending. His instincts are above average and always is in position to get steals and deflections. His athleticism allows him to be a rim protector if needed and battle down against players in the paint in certain situations. He takes pride in shutting down the opponents best offensive player and his teammates thrive off his energy and it usually nets positive results. These tools have all the makings that translate to competing at a high-level university and it is evident that there is where Cole will be competing when his high school days are done.

Colleges in the region and beyond are starting to take notice and will be following him very closely over the next year. He currently holds offers from Nebraska, Georgia, Houston, LSU, and Ole Miss. This list will only continue to grow as he continues to put the work in on the court as well as excel in the classroom.
