The city of Houston has historically been home to some of the best prospects not only in the state of Texas, but also nationally. The class of 2022 is setting up to be no different with a deep pool of talent across the board but there are a few prospects who are starting to separate themselves from the pack. When it is all said and done, we fully expect these five talented players to be among the best in the in country for their class.
Bryce Griggs 6’2 G Hightower HS Missouri City, TX
Griggs is the ultimate package in terms of flash and flare with the ball in his hands. His time spent in the offseason improving his skills has paid big dividends in his ability to simply take over a game whenever he chooses. He gets to the paint with ease and can finish at the rim with either hand. He has increased his range on shot and is not a legit three level scorer. Lightning quick in transition and has unbelievable court vision. There is no secret why the likes of Kansas, Houston, Texas, Memphis, and Baylor have made him a top priority. Look for this list to grow over the next year.
Terrance Arceneaux 6’6 G/F Beaumont United HS Beaumont, TX
In terms of long-term upside, Arceneaux may very well be the best prospect in all of Texas regardless of class. He simply checks off all the boxes in terms of an elite level talent. He is long, athletic, and at times seems to be a man playing against boys. He shoots the ball well from the three and has developed a mid-range game that has drawn comparisons to NBA star Paul George. He has really turned up his intensity on the defensive side of the floor this season and has been the center piece of an impressive 13-0 start for his high school squad. LSU, Houston, TCU, Texas A&M, and Rice are just a few of the schools who have been involved. The latest schools to get involved are Texas, Missouri, Cincinnati, and Texas Tech. This list is expected to increase soon as he continues to excel on the court and the classroom.
PJ Haggerty 6’3 G Crosby High School Crosby, TX
Haggerty simply put is one of the smoothest guards that you will find. He scores the ball in bunches and is constantly in attack mode. He is lightning quick with the basketball and has first step that few defenders can stay in front of. His range has extended well beyond the three-point line and he is very efficient with the basketball in his hands. His defense has pick up a lot this season and he is now taking on the task not only being known as an offense weapon, but also a defensive stopper. He loves to take on the challenge of shutting down the opposing team’s best player and it has shown each night out on the court. He has earned scholarships from a very impressive list of schools like Arizona State, Florida St, Lamar, Houston, Rice, and TCU. His recruiting is expected to intensify over the next few months as we get deeper into the high school season and spring travel ball.
Dok Muordar 7’0 Premier Academy Houston, TX
Over the past few month, he has really polished his skills and become a legit all-around force on the court. His size and strength make him an exceedingly difficult match up at the high school level. He can play with his back to the basket and has a natural feel for the game down low. He has increased his range on his jump shot and has grown comfortable facing up against opponents and putting the ball on the floor. Finishes strong at the rim and like to be met with contact. Defensively, he blocks or alters any shot that comes in the paint. He has an extremely high IQ and loves to compete. Has earned the respect from most of the people in the region and several schools are making him a top priority. Currently holds offers from Oregon St, and LSU. Look for this list to grow over the next few months as we get deeper into the season and spring travel ball.
Ke’Mauri Millender 6’1 G Clearbrook HS Friendswood, TX
He is quietly making his case for being the most impactful player in the area. He is the heart and soul of his 11-0 squad, and he is not looking to let up anytime soon. A relentless competitor who is constantly putting pressure on his opponents. He is lightning quick with the basketball and gets to the basket against just about anyone. He has great feel for the game and has above average court vision. He spent the past off season improving the range on his jump shot and it has shown dividends this season. Defensively, its hard to believe but he has increased his already high intensity level. He loves taking on the challenge of shutting down opponents and this attitude has rubbed off on his teammates and plays into why they are one of the teams to beat in the state this year. Schools in the regions have taken notice and are locked in on following closely to try to get an edge on landing this prized recruit. We fully expect for his recruiting to intensify as we get deeper into the season and into spring and summer travel ball.
