The class of 2021 has obviously been hit hard recruiting wise by the COVID-19 pandemic so no matter what state you venture into you’re bound to see and hear about talented prospects still on the board that could help Division 1 and high caliber Division 2 programs alike. The state of Ohio is no exception to this and sharpshooting 2021 G Tre Massey of Brunswick High School is one reason why.
Equipped with a 6’3 175 pound frame, Massey is a lights out perimeter shooter that can score with the best of them from coast to coast. Last season he dropped 11 trey balls in one game and he ripped off a near 50% 3 point shooting percentage while pacing the Greater Cleveland Conference in scoring and delivering a school, county, and conference record of 100 trey balls on the season. Primed for a huge spring, Massey was slowed like many by the pandemic and a broken leg, which prevented college coaches from coming out and putting their eyes on him and many other prospects in 2021.
A talented guard that excels spotting up on the break and in a catch and shoot capacity in half court sets, Massey is more than just a shooter. The talented senior sees the floor well, he can hit the pull-up off the dribble, he makes quality decisions, and he has nice feel and instincts making for a highly intriguing player that can fit into and excel in any system at the Division 1 or 2 levels. If you need someone to spread the floor and keep defenses honest he’s the guy and if you need someone to be able to take over the game and score in bunches he’s shown that ability as well. Skill and an ability to make shots is always a premium in college and Massey is one of the top pure marksmen in the country left on the board in 2021.
Already holding offers from Frostburg State, Notre Dame (OH), Indiana Tech, and Point Park, Massey is wide open right now and he’s a potential steal for a high level Division 2 program and possible Division 1 school in need of a consistent marksmen in the 2021 class. Massey played with the Team SMAC program during the grassroots travel season.
