Kolby Williams may very well be one of the best 2021 wings that is still on the board, but he does let that stop him from steadily improving in all areas of his game. Standing 6’6, the Heights High School standout in Houston, TX has created a buzz around the area for a being a hard worker and do it all player that simply wants to win. The great work ethic on the court and in the classroom has put him a position that lines him up to be successful at the next level.
Offensively, he is one of the most active players that you will find. He has a great feel for the game around the basket and does not force the issue. He is super athletic and loves playing above the rim. He has a soft touch on his mid-range shot and has put in the extra work to extend his range. He is a good handler who has no problem putting in on the floor with either and hand and getting to the basket. He has the size to finish at the rim with contact and is great at anticipating and getting offensive rebounds. He also has great vision and can find open teammates in the half court as well as in transition.
Defensively, he is a great on ball defender. He is quick and athletic enough to guard out on the perimeter as well as play against bigger opponents in the post. He is a quick leaper and protects the rim when he is challenged. He has no problem picking up full court and applying pressure or reading passing lanes and getting steals which lead to easy transition baskets. All the tangibles that need to be productive at the next are things that he possesses, and we fully expect him to have a long and impactful career at the next.
This past summer he played for the well known and respected Texas Takeover Elite travel club and competed against some of the best talent in the south. His play caught the attention of many college programs in the south and he took full advantage. This upcoming winter season he picked up where he left off this past summer and is continuing to build that buzz and grow his list of options. We fully expect for him be a high priority for schools in the region as they complete their 2021 recruiting roster.
