2022 PG Mason Docks of Cypress Ranch High School in Cypress, TX is simply one of the most electrifying guards in all the state. Before moving to Texas, he was standout player in the State of Michigan and was named First Team All-State as well as the Player of the Year in Lansing. He is not only electrifying on the court but also in the classroom boasting an “A” level GPA and he’s poised to be total package in terms of student athlete.
The 6’0 PG is exceptionally skilled and can control the pace of the game. He has above average court vision and can find teammates on the floor at any time. An elite ball handler who keeps the ball on a string, Docks can blow by defenders at ease with either hand and he has the upper body strength to get into the paint and finish at the rim with contact with his right or his left hand. Docks decision making is advanced as he has the unique ability to always know when to make the right play and unlike many others is a true point guard with a pass first mentality who is not turnover prone and is always the vocal leader on out on the court. He has worked steadily at being a more consistent three-point shooter while continuing to improve the mechanics on his jump shot. The extra work off the court has shown as his confidence has grown and is extremely comfortable being a legit three level scorer on the offensive end.
His tenacity and dedication on the defensive side allows him to shutdown opposing guards as well as switch off on bigger opponents. He takes pride on the defensive end of the floor and it translates to positive gain for his team on the offensive end. His exceptional play has put him in position to fight for some of the same accolades that he received in Michigan and he is just scratching the surface in terms of potential.
During last year’s travel season, he competed against some of the best talent nationally playing for the talented Houston Superstars grassroots travel program. He currently holds offers from the University of Toledo, Cleveland State and Rice. He has started to get looks from many of the top schools in the region and his offer list should only grow as he continues to excel on the court as well as the classroom.
