15U NY2LA BASKETBALL ASSOCIATION DAY TOP PERFORMERS
Lucas Finnessy — 2020 — F — Wisconsin Shooters
Terrific all-around player. A 6’4 wing player, Finnessy moves really well without the back and gets a lot of ‘garbage’ type buckets with movement away from the ball, got big in the post, rebounded, and also showed the ability to put the ball on the floor and had a couple of nice mid-range pull-up jumpers off hard dribble drives in a Sunday morning game against Quad City. He finished with a game-high 13 points and seven rebounds as the Shooters ran away with a big win.
Colin Golson — 2020 — F —REACH Legends
Golson is a 6’4 left handed forward that is a terrific rebounder and likes to mix it up in the paint. He has a nice touch around the bucket that is a hard worker on the boards and in the paint. He did a good job of finding seams and creases in the defense in a Sunday morning match-up against the Wisconsin Swing and scored a host of easy lay-ins. Shows a nice left handed mid-range shot out to 17 feet. Had 12 points and four boards in the first half and finished with 19 points and five rebounds.
David Ijadimbola — 2020 — G — 43 Hoops
Ijadimbola is an elite athlete capable of throwing down highlight-type dunks or pinning shots on the backboard. A 6’1 guard, he is a smooth ball handler and one of many terrific shooters on a standout shooting 43 Hoops team. Versatile player that is comfortable at a variety of positions, spent time running the point, the 2-guard and even can play a wing as well.
Isaac Jessup — 2020 — G — Colorado Titans Gold
Jessup’s hot shooting helped keep the Titans in an early-morning game against 43 Hoops and he knocked down three 3-pointers and scored 13 points in the first half. A 6’0 guard, Jessup is a hard worker who competes at the defensive end and is seemingly in constant motion at the offensive end of the court.
Isaac Lindsey— 2020 — SG — Wisconsin Swing
The 6’2 Lindsey is among the premier players in the 15U Association and continued his standout play over the weekend. He had a big first half Sunday morning against REACH Legends, knocking down four 3-pointers and scored 14 points in the opening frame. Lindsey finished the contest with five 3-pointers, including a few from NBA range, but showed late in the game why he is a special talent, taking control of the ball as the Swing attempted to run out the clock, dribbling through the defense as the Swing held on to the ball. He finished the contest with 24 points.
Isaiah Rivera — 2020 — G — Quad City Elite
New to the 15U Association line-up this weekend was Quad City Elite and Isaiah Rivera impressed with his all-around play. A 6’4 wing player, Rivera showed off a strong frame, good handle and the ability to get buckets in a variety of ways. He led Quad City Elite with 10 points Sunday morning, then had a game-high 16 points later Sunday afternoon
Jake Ryan — 2020 — F — Team Elite CA
A 6’1 wing player, Ryan is one of the biggest buckets of Sunday’s action for Team Elite California when he put in a miss at the buzzer for a 53-51 win over Butler Elite. He had six points in the first half, then went for 13 in the second half.
Billie Roberts — 2020 — PF/C — Grand Rapids Storm
A 6’4 post player, Roberts is a busier in the paint. He had a big game Sunday morning against Yanders Law, going for 12 points and 11 rebounds. He is a strong, physical left hander that has terrific hands, good footwork inside and a soft left handed shooting touch. Showed the ability to shoot a little from 15-17 feet.
Yacouba Traore — 2020 — F — Wisconsin Swing
Regarded as one of the better interior defenders in the 15U Association, the 6’5 Traore showed a little more offensive game this weekend in Minneapolis than he did a week ago in Dallas. He has the ability to put the ball on the floor and drive to the hoops, but is still at his best as an aggressive defender and rebounder. He had four points and nine rebounds in the opening half of a Sunday morning contest against REACH Legends, and finished with nine points and a game-high 13 boards.
Joel Watts - 2020 - PG - All In Athletics Williams
Kid gets buckets. A 5’8 point guard, Watts is among the quicker guards in the 15U Association and has the ability to light up the scoreboard as team’s struggle to keep him out of the paint. He rebounds well for his size, has a nice pull-up game and gets all the way to the basket. He helped lead his team to a pair of wins on Sunday, scoring 20 points in a win over the Minnesota Comets, then added 19 more against Martin Brother Sunday afternoon.
15U NY2LA BASKETBALL ASSOCIATION DAY STOCK BOOSTERS
Vernon Nash - 2020 - PG - Grand Rapids Storm
Super quick 5’7 point guard that pushes the tempo and scores in transition well. He came off the bench to score 13 points Sunday morning against Yanders Law and showcased an all-around game, hitting a 3, and taking the ball to the basket, and later scored 17 to lead Grand Rapids.
Isaiah Johnson — 2020 — G/F — Martin Brothers
Johnson had arguably the play of the day in the 15U Association on Sunday as he threw down a one-handed dunk to finish the break and was fouled in a contest against All In Athletics Williams. A 6’2 guard, Johnson is a good defender that also picked up a handful of steals and blocked shots and led his squad with 10 rebounds in a contest against All In Athletics.
Adam Storm, — 2020 — F — Grand Rapids Storm
Probably a kid that won’t get a lot of attention as he doesn’t often put up big scoring numbers, but the 6’4 Storm is the quintessential glue guy, a lunch pail type that does the little things, whether it is setting screens, playing defense or getting on the boards, He is one of the better rebounders in the Association and picked up nine Sunday morning against Yanders Law.
Jaden Gilpin — 2020 — SF — Yanders Law
A 6’3 wing player, Gilpin took on a big scoring role for Yanders Law this weekend as the squad played shorthanded with just six players. He scored 21 in a loss to 43 Hoops and 16 against Grand Rapids on Sunday. He has the ability to consistently knock down 3-pointers, off the bounce or catch, and is a solid ball handler and play maker.
Steven Henderson – 2020 — F — Butler Elite
A 6’3 guard, Henderson showed why he is among the top prospects in the NY2LA Basketball Association, going for 20 points Sunday against the Grand Rapids Storm. He is a versatile wing player that is at his best slashing to the bucket and brings length and athleticism to the court.
Jaden Keller — 2020 — SF — Martin Brothers
Keller is a 6’4 wing player who continues to raise his profile as a prospect this spring in the 15U Association and on Sunday he showcased an all-around skill set, scoring 16 points and hauling in six rebounds in a contest against All In Athletics Williams. Blessed with good size, Keller is an inside-out wing that can shoot from the outside and is tough to contain in transition.
Anthony Green — 2021 — SF — Yanders Law
Another 2021 kid on Yanders Law playing up an age level, Green is one to watch in the future. He is an explosive athlete at 6’2, has a smooth looking 3-point stroke and battles on the boards.
Martice Mitchell — 2020, — F — All In Athletics Williams
He missed the action in session 1 in Dallas, but played some key minutes this weekend for All In Athletics. He is still raw at the offensive end and needs to add strength, but at 6’8 his is exceptionally long and mobile and has a lot of upside.
