The NY2LA Sports Spring Extravaganza in Minnesota this weekend is hauling in some of the top talent from around the country with high-caliber teams like Texas Select, KC Run GMC and others traveling in to showcase what they are made of during the spring evaluation period for Division 1 college coaches.  Let us not forget though the talent pool Wisconsin is crossing the state’s border with names headlined by highly coveted wing Kevon Looney of the Milwaukee Rebels.  We continue our preview of the talented event this weekend by looking at some of the top prospects from the state of Wisconsin slated to appear…

Neal is fast and springy with smooth transitions from one movement to the next with the ball in his hands.  The guard/wing has great instincts and feel for the game and can shoot the ball from about anywhere.

Brady Ellingson - 2014 - SG - Ray Allen Select
6-3 - Sussex Hamilton H.S. - Menomonee Falls, WI

The shooting guard out of Sussex-Hamilton displayed his range and consistency stroking three-pointers all last weekend.  Ellingson’s quick release and good size make it difficult for honest defenses to contain his scoring when he’s hot.  Look for him to have another big tournament this weekend during the evaluation period.

Brandon Key - 2015 - PG - Milwaukee Runnin’ Rebels
5-10 - West Allis Central H.S. - Milwaukee, WI

Key provides another blazer at the guard spot for the Rebels. With an improved control to his game and excellent play-making capabilities Key has the potential to score and distribute at will. He and Jefferson provide quite the flash in the backcourt together!

Brian Bearden - 2014 - F - WI Swing
6-3 - Germantown H.S. - Germantown, WI

Athletic and tough, this Bearden strives on shutting down his opponent on defense.  He has good leaping ability and competes hard on the glass while also finishing plays in transition very well.

Chandler Diekvoss - 2014 - SF - Green Bay Gunners
6-4 - West DePere H.S. - DePere, WI

Diekvoss is yet another high-quality player out of the DePere area who can hurt opponents from multiple levels.  He has shown the ability to hit shots away from the basket.

Christian Cuevas - 2014 - F - WI Academy
6-5 - Madison Memorial H.S. - Madison, WI

Cuevas brings good size and experience to the WI Academy squad. He can score in multiple ways and does a nice job wrapping up plays on the glass.

C.J. Polk - 2014 - PG - WI Shooters
6-0 - Wisconsin Lutheran H.S. - Milwaukee, WI

Polk is an excellent young talent that uses his speed and quickness to get past defenders and cause problems on the other end for ball-handlers.  Polk’s shot has improved immensely and he has become a sincere threat from anywhere on the court when he’s rolling.

Cole Hake - 2014 - F - WI Blizzard
6-5 - Kaukauna H.S. - Combined Locks, WI

Hake showed the ability to knock down the outside shot with a nice looking stroke.  The junior has good size for his skill set and works hard on both ends of the court.

D’Angelo Jackson - 2014 - PG - DTA-Devin Harris Superstars
6-5 - Racine Case H.S. - Racine, WI

The Case product excels using his athletic gifts - strength and speed - to blow by defenders, finishes inside in the half-court or transition and has shown capable on knocking down perimeter shots as well.

Dalton Soto - 2014 - SG - WI Playmakers
6-5 - Blair Taylor H.S. - Blair, WI

Soto has a solid handle for his size.  He has a decent frame that he uses very well to open up spaces for him to get shots up against contact and finish plays off.  Soto is a fierce competitor and has a good looking overall shot.

Damontrae Jefferson - 2014 - PG - Milwaukee Runnin’ Rebels
5-10 - Arlington Country Day Prep - Milwaukee, WI

Jefferson returns home from the prep scene at Arlington Country Day to help the Rebels battle for tournament championships. One of the more exciting players in the country from the guard spot, Jefferson can take most off the dribble with apparent-ease, has great athleticism and speed/quickness, and can fill the hoop when he gets it going.

David Burrell - 2014 - F - Milwaukee Runnin’ Rebels
6-6 - Milwaukee Hamilton H.S. - Milwaukee, WI

Burrell provides the second punch inside for the Rebels with his long arms and excellent athleticism. He brings a still pretty raw skill-set to the court but has improved his jump shot immensely and provides defensive leadership. Watch Burrell control the glass in nearly every contest he plays.

Dearionte Hudson – 2014 – PG - TP Elite
5-10 – Germantown H.S. – Germantown, WI

The ultra quick perimeter talent continues to build off a stellar high school season and his ability to create problems defensively and slash through opposing teams offensively with his quickness and dribble drive penetration have impressed already.  One to watch this weekend.

Donovan Jackson - 2014 - PG - TP-Elite
5-11 - Pius XI H.S. - Milwaukee, WI

Jackson’s stock has been steadily rising throughout the course of the year and the lefty is going to be looking to make a splash this weekend.  As a point guard Jackson is excellent off the dribble and can create shots for himself and his teammates, aided by his ability to drain perimeter shots from good range.

Evan Wesenberg – 2014 – F – Wisconsin Swing
6-7 – Germantown H.S. – Germantown, WI

The gritty and effort driven forward can dominate a game in a variety of ways with his relentless attack mode and above average instincts and skill package.  He will attack the glass, lock up defensively, and score in a variety of ways.  Already holding Division 1 offers, Wesenberg looks primed to impress this weekend in Minnesota and he’s one to pay close attention to throughout the weekend.

Isaiah Daniels - 2014 - F - WI Blizzard
6-6 - Campbellsport H.S. - Campbellsport, WI

Daniels plays bigger than his 6-6 height and has very good hands inside.  He catches well and goes to the rim when he finishes plays.  Active on the glass and more athletic than he appears at first glance, Daniels had a very solid Swish ‘N Dish weekend.

Jake Showalter – 2014 – SG – Wisconsin Swing
6-3 – Germantown H.S. – Germantown, WI

The sharpshooting off guard looks to impress this weekend as he takes the floor with another strong Wisconsin Swing team.  Showalter can spot up and drill the perimeter shot from anywhere on the court and he already his holding some Division 1 offers and looking to add to it this weekend in Minnesota.

Jarvis Garrett – 2014 – PG – TP Elite
6-0 – Notre Dame Prep – Milwaukee, WI

One of the premiere lead guards in the country, Garrett is a blur in the open court with the ability to slice through defenses and create easy opportunities for his team.  An exceptional floor general, Garrett hits the court this weekend with an improved perimeter stroke and an elite floor game looking to impress.

Jaylen Key - 2015 - F - TP-Elite
6-5 - Homestead H.S. - Milwaukee, WI

Key is hungry to display his talents in the Extravaganza after warming up in the Swish ‘N Dish.  Key is solid around the rim, but can else step away from the hoop and attack from the mid-to-high post areas.  The Homestead junior runs the floor and rebounds well.

Jerrod Walton - 2014 - F - TP-Elite
6-5 - Homestead H.S. - Mequon, WI

Walton is a lanky 6-5 win with very good athleticism and a nice outside jumper that he releases quickly.  He gets out in transition well and finish against contact to boot.

Jordan Perez - 2014 - G - WI Shooters
6-4 - Greendale H.S. - Greenfield, WI

Perez is another young player with a great feel for scoring the basketball, doing so in various ways, but also does a lot of the little things for his team.

Jordan Shea - 2014 - G/F - Madison Spartans
6-4 - Lodi H.S. - Madison, WI

Shea is an exceptional young player who does a little bit of everything on the court.  He shoots the ball well from the outside, has great court vision and battles for every possession on both ends.

Juafonyay Lyte – 2014 – F – Wisconsin Shooters
6-5 – Milwaukee Academy of Sciences – Milwaukee, WI

A bouncy tough athletic forward who can do it all in the paint, Lyte can deliver a powerful dunk at any time and dominate the glass as well.  He’s exciting and has solid athleticism and will take aim at the field this weekend in Minnesota.

Kevon Looney - 2014 - F - Milwaukee Runnin’ Rebels
6-9 - Milwaukee Hamilton H.S. - Milwaukee, WI

The long and athletic young man is out to prove he can be the top player in the country. His ability to play down low, attack off the bounce, play from the perimeter and dominate defensively make him an extremely coveted player. Looney leads the Rebels against some top competition in the Extravaganza and headlines a loaded field of prospects.

Lamonte Bearden - 2014 - PG - WI Swing
6-2 - Germantown H.S. - Germantown, WI

Fast-rising guard prospect looks to showcase his talents in front of several High-Major coaches at the Extravaganza.  Bearden sizzled at the Swish ‘N Dish with his silky smooth shiftiness and playmaking abilities.  The veteran guard has been climbing up recruiting boards and will try to keep on that track in Minnesota.

Levi Bradley - 2015 - F - TP-Elite
6-6 - Pius XI H.S. - Milwaukee, WI

The big man is sleek and moves well around the court.  He can knock down with relative consistency from 18 ft. in and is still coming into his body.  Bradley’s size and skill package has viewers and coaches alike on notice and is ready to have a big travel season.

Malik Clements - 2014 - F/C - Madison Spartans
6-4 - Madison West H.S. - Madison, WI

The young perimeter talent has a great command on the court with the versatility makes him a tough match for opponents as he has shot the ball better each time he hits the court it seems.  Really coming into his own, Clements is a Division 1 talent who continues to add schools to his recruiting trail as he scores the basketball, plays defense, and makes things happen on both ends of the court with consistency.

Marcus White - 2014 - SF - DTA-Devin Harris Superstars
6-6 - Milwaukee Vincent H.S. - Milwaukee, WI

White’s size and athleticism make him a match-up headache for opponents as he can beat you from beyond the arc or take his game to the rack and finish in traffic with soft touches off the glass.  White has power, he can be smooth and has developed into a very strong rebounder as well.

Nicholas Cobbins - 2014 - PG - DTA-Devin Harris Superstars
6-1 - Milwaukee Riverside H.S. - Milwaukee, WI

When Cobbins is on, he is quick and intelligent defensively, an excellent facilitator offensively and can beat opponents from range... when he’s on.

Noel Crabtree - 2014 - G - WI Rap
6-0 - Nathan Hale H.S. - West Allis, WI

Crabtree erupted as one of the better shooters in the area during the school season, but will try to show his all-around game at the Extravaganza.  Crabtree has great range, is a very heady player, and does a great job distributing the ball to his teammates.

Parker Weber - 2014 - PF - WI Swing
6-8 - Aquinas H.S. - LaCrosse, WI

Weber is a nice post presence for Swing who is coming into his own as a player.  He has a great touch around the hoop and has added some post moves to his repertoire.  He stays after boards and puts himself in good spots to catch entry passes and create points.

Paul Miller - 2014 - G - WI Shooters
6-4 - Kettle Moraine H.S. - Waukesha, WI

Miller had an unbelievable Swish ‘N Dish tournament including a 40-point effort in an early round game against the eventual champ.  Miller has a great mid-range game, finishes well off the glass and is an efficient and consistent deep-threat.

Reed Timmer - 2014 - PG - Ray Allen Select
6-1 - New Berlin Eisenhower H.S. - New Berlin, WI

Timmer had a quietly efficient and effective Swish ‘N Dish tournament, scoring when he needed to and facilitating superbly for his teammates who had hot hands the entire event.  He attacks well offensively, sees the court and can score in a multitude of ways going to hoop or dropping shots in mid-to-perimeter.

Riley LaChance - 2014 - PG - Ray Allen Select
6-2 - Brookfield Central H.S. - Brookfield, WI

Scorer extraordinaire, LaChance proved at the Swish ‘N Dish he can do it all against some of the best and quickest guards around with improving athleticism, deceptive agility and understanding how to create space for his shots going inside. Oh, and he can fill it from deep pretty efficiently as well!

Ron Turkvan - 2014 - SG - WI Rap
6-0 - West Allis Central H.S. - West Allis, WI

Turkvan will look to pull-in some increased recruiting-attention by showing off his high releasing pull-up jump shot and continuing his prowess defensively as he constantly scraps for loose balls and creates turnovers.  He finishes well in transition and can pull the jumper at anytime in an offense.

Romeo Bouie – 2015 – SG – DTA Devin Harris Superstars
6-4 – Racine St. Catherines – Racine, WI

One of the premiere scoring wings in the sophomore class, Bouie can fill it up from long range, slash to the rim, and score in transition.  A talented wing with upside, Bouie joins a strong DTA squad this weekend in Minnesota looking to take aim at a deep and talented field.

Caleb Mortag – 2014 – SF – Ray Allen Select
6-5 – Brookfield Central H.S. – Brookfield, WI

Mortag really impressed two weeks ago at the Swish ‘N Dish and the bouncy athletic wing has no problem poking out on opposing defenders when given the opportunity.  Look for him to take aim at a strong field of talent this weekend as he can finish and deliver some highlight reel dunks when the opportunity presents itself.

T.J. Schlundt - 2014 - SG - WI Swing
6-4 - Oconomowoc H.S. - Oconomowoc, WI

Still one of the premiere shooters and players in the state of Wisconsin. Schlundt is intelligent, has improved his ball-handling and is lethal when he has the opportunity to spot up.  Coaches will be watching closely where he’s at this weekend.

Travon Bunch - 2014 - C - DTA-Devin Harris Superstars
6-11 - Racine Horlick H.S. - Racine, WI

The long post player has spectators intrigued by his potential as he shows signs of being able to dominate games with his length and athleticism, as well as capable of knocking down shots from the mid-range.  His footwork is coming along and he generally has a good feel with his baby hook at the hoop.

Tyler Miller – 2013 – SF – TP Elite
6-6 – Nicolet H.S. – Milwaukee, WI

The late blooming wing delivered a huge performance in Chicago this past weekend and he looks to continue that trend this weekend in front of college coaches.  Already qualified and equipped with skill, length, athleticism, and instincts, Miller is a Division 1 talent who can finish in transition, drain the trey ball, attack the glass, and make plays on both ends of the court.  

Turner Moen – 2014 – PG – Wisconsin Swing
6-3 – Lake Mills H.S. – Lake Mills, WI

A sleeper in the 2014 class, Moen is a solid athlete with toughness and instincts that can play defense, handle the ball, create, and put the ball in the basket.  Schools should take a look this weekend as this young guard can play and he proved that again a couple weeks ago at the Swish ‘N Dish tournament in Milwaukee.

Darrylyn Willis – 2014 – PF - Milwaukee Rebels
6-8 – Madison Memorial H.S. – Madison, WI

A talented and long interior talent with a solid upside, Willis attacks the glass, can finish around the basket, and is really just scratching the surface of his potential.  He has Division 1 ability and could impress this spring and summer if he can put it all together.

Anthony Carver - 2015 - F - WI Shooters
6-3 - Wisconsin Lutheran H.S. - Milwaukee, WI

Carver is tough inside and has the ability to step out and be effective from about 18 feet and in.  Plays on raw talent right now, but has improved his skill set tremendously, showing more confidence when he has the ball in his hands.

Brandon Eckford - 2015 - F - DTA-Devin Harris Superstars
6-4 - Milwaukee Bay View H.S. - Milwaukee, WI

Eckford got better and better as the Swish ‘N Dish went along and he looks to continue that elevation at the Extravaganza. Eckford is solid inside. He has good hands and awareness as well as adjusting well to tough catches or rebounds. Uses his body well for an undersized post player.

Brian Studer - 2015 - G - WI Swing
6-1 - Germantown H.S. - Germantown, WI

Studer shoots the ball well and has not even developed completely yet as an athlete. The Germantown sophomore is tough as nails on the court and continues to improve his ability to attack defenders off the dribble and create for teammates.

Cody Schwartz - 2015 - PF - WI Blizzard-Pronschinske
6-8 - West DePere H.S. - DePere, WI

Schwartz is a cornerstone player teams can build around.  He showed off his array of offensive skills at the Swish ‘N Dish, able to attack from the wing, bury deep shots from beyond the arc and run the floor in transition.  Special young player who should garner more and more attention as the travel season develops.

Connor Konshak - 2015 - G - WI Blizzard-Pronschinske
6-1 - West DePere H.S. - DePere, WI

The young guard is built strong and uses his instincts and athleticism to make plays.  His fast-break dunk the other weekend was impressive and his overall play was stellar. Konshak can hurt opponents in a variety of ways, outside and going to the hoop.

Danya Kingsby - 2016 - PG - Milwaukee Runnin’ Rebels
6-0 - Milwaukee Hamilton H.S. - Milwaukee, WI

Kingsby is a total package guard as a freshman.  He has the talent and the instincts to match his athleticism. Kingsby can hit perimeter shots, knows when to pull up for a floater on the drive or finish at the rim when available.  He has a solid handle with the ball, sees teammates and delivers quality passes.

Darold Thomas - 2015 - PG - WI Academy
6-1 - Madison LaFollette H.S. - Madison, WI

Thomas has a great frame for a young guard, is very quick and explosive and has good intangibles. He overpowers opposing ball-handlers with his strength and anticipation and sees the court.

Diamante Freeman - 2015 - F - DTA-Devin Harris Superstars
6-4 - Milwaukee Rufus King H.S. - Milwaukee, WI

Freeman is slick, yet strong inside despite having a leaner frame.  The talented forward plays bigger than his size, but still moves like a guard, dribble-penetrating and passing comfortably.

Diamond Stone - 2015 - C - Young Legends
6-10 - Dominican H.S. - Milwaukee, WI

Stone is perhaps the premiere true post player in the state of Wisconsin going into next year.  The highly regarded sophomore has exceptionally soft touch with his mid-to-short baby hook with both hands, is quick processing his post-moves which often leaves defenders late to contest and he can be menacing in the paint defensively.  Without question one of the measuring sticks nationally regardless of class, Stone is an excellent talent with tremendous upside as he continues to develop and improve.

Harold Boccheciamp - 2015 - G - WI Blizzard-Emery
6-3 - Xavier H.S. - Neenah, WI

Boccheciamp has great height for a guard and does all the little things for his team.  He hustles every second, rebounds ok and can score the ball when he needs to.  Boccheciamp can hit from range or from inside the arc if needed.

J.T. Ruffin - 2015 - F - WI Academy
6-5 - Sun Prairie H.S. - Sun Prairie, WI

Ruffin is a solid inside player right now who finds his way to open spots and positions himself well for rebounds on both ends of the floor.  The sophomore is still developing his body/strength, but he squares his shoulders well right now to finish despite contact.

Jake Jurss - 2015 - SG - DTA-Devin Harris Superstars
6-0 - Sheboygan Lutheran H.S. - Sheboygan, WI

At first look it would seem Jurss is only a spot up shooter with deadly aim, but with further looks, Jurss has a knack for attacking gaps, drawing defense and dishing to open teammates. Jurss’s game is coming along nicely.

James Batemon - 2015 - G - DTA-Devin Harris Superstars
6-1 - Milwaukee Riverside H.S. - Milwaukee, WI

Batemon is quick, has good ball-handling skills and is always aware of his position on the court.  His mid-range floater seems to be a signature for him and he is not afraid to compete down low when he has mismatches or opportunities.

Jerome Cummings - 2015 - G/F - DTA-Devin Harris Superstars
6-3 - West Allis Central H.S. - Milwaukee, WI

The lanky, but smooth sophomore wing goes is just scratching the surface of his talent.  He can shoot the ball from the perimeter, his mid-range/elbow pull-up is consistent and he has a soft touch around the rim... his biggest area of improvement will be defense.

Joe Binyoti – 2015 – PG – Young Legends
6-3 – Homestead H.S. – Mequon, WI

A talented lead guard with instinct and skill, Binyoti pairs with Diamond Stone and a strong Young Legends squad this weekend in Minnesota looking to showcase his playmaking skill, ability to score, and evolving floor game.  Talented with upside and potential, Binyoti is one to watch this weekend in Minnesota.

Kevin Henry - 2015 - G - TP-Elite
5-10 - Menomonee Falls H.S. - Milwaukee, WI

Henry is an exciting young player with a rapidly developing game.  His ball-handling is solid and he scores from all-over.  He plays athletic and quick.  When Henry is on, he’s very difficult to slow down.

Kyle Monroe - 2015 - SF - WI Blizzard-Pronschinske
6-4 - Ashwaubenon H.S. - Ashwaubenon, WI

Monroe had a break out tournament in Mequon, proving his ability to score the basketball.  The sophomore forward is active on the glass, penetrates well with the handle and finishes plays with high efficiency... Very effective young player right now.

Miles Sigh - 2015 - G - WI Shooters
6-2 - Whitefish Bay H.S. - Waukesha, WI

Sigh is an elusive and shifty guard with good size and speed.  He gets up the court quickly and is constantly making plays offensively.  His jump shot is coming along nicely and he attacks the basket under control.

Nate Hubbard – 2015 – PG – Milwaukee Spartans
6-1 – Milwaukee Washington H.S. – Milwaukee, WI

A talented guard with the ability to create and score the basketball, Hubbard can handle the ball, sees the floor well, puts the ball in the basket, and makes plays.  One to keep track of this weekend.

Shareef Smith - 2015 - PG - WI Academy
5-9 - Madison Memorial H.S. - Madison, WI

The small, fast young guard was electric much of the Swish ‘N Dish tournament, blowing by players to get to the rim, hitting some outside shots and making big buckets for his team when they really needed them.

Tyler Maten - 2015 - PG - TP-Elite
6-0 - West Allis Central H.S. - Milwaukee, WI

Maten has incredible basketball instincts to go along with understanding of the game.  He handles the ball well and when set to do it, is a lock-down defender.  He attacks the hoop very well right now while his perimeter stroke develops.

Tywon Bressler – 2015 – PG – Young Legends
6-1 – Dominican H.S. – Milwaukee, WI

A solid and talented lead guard with vision, handles, and the ability to make plays, Bressler is part of a solid and impressive Young Legends squad with a number of talented prospects.  Look for the developing sophomore to impress at times this weekend in Minnesota.

Will Kellerman - 2015 - G/F - WI Academy
6-2 - Verona Area H.S. - Verona, WI

Kellerman is a very promising shooter as a sophomore.  He hunts for his shot, has very good shot preparation and is fairly consistent in his attempts.  His mid-range game is developing.
