Looking for a school and a coach that can help elevate his game, Montverde (Fla.) Academy 2014 Shooting Guard D’Angelo Russell is currently a top priority for some of the Nation’s top programs. We caught up with the highly regarded talent to get the latest…

Holding offers from the likes of Indiana, Louisville, Missouri, Cincinnati, North Carolina State, Ohio State, and Xavier, Russell is still wide open at the moment, and is taking a good look at each school recruiting him.

“I’m still considering everybody,” Russell told NY2LASPORTS.COM Tuesday night. “I’m looking for a school with the right coach that can get me to the next level.”

Russell is also fielding interest from Florida, Kentucky, North Carolina, Virginia, and Wake Forest among others.

The 6-4 guard said Indiana, Louisville, North Carolina, and Ohio State are currently pursuing him the hardest.

The Hoosiers intrigue Russell because of their recent upswing over the past few seasons.

“I talk to Coach Crean a lot,” said Russell. “I just like how Coach Crean has turned the system around. How they’ve been winning for the past few years.”

Russell isn’t sure he’ll visit any schools this fall, but if he does, Russell said he’d like to visit North Carolina.

“I’m not for sure about any visits,” he said. “I may visit North Carolina. They’re going to come down and watch me practice at school. They’ve been trying to get me up there for a visit.

“They’re a winning program. Coach (Roy) Williams is one of the great winners in college basketball.”

Louisville has been after Russell hard as of late as well. Russell likes the Cardinals because of their proximity to his home and winning tradition.

“Coach (Rick) Pitino texted me not that long ago,” said Russell. He’s been checking up on me.

"Its home. Coach Pitino has shown he wins when he’s around.”

Russell said Head Coach Thad Matta and Ohio State have been very impressed with his play on the hardwood. Russell also has a lot to like about the Buckeyes.

“Coach Matta said he loves me as a player,” Russell said. “I’m just trying to watch them more and see if I can see myself in their system. Coach Matta and Coach Jeff Boals have been in contact a lot.

“That’s also a winning program too and the guys they’ve had, have been successful coming out of that program.”

Russell said he may take an addition visit during his junior season as well.

“Probably Florida,” he said. “It’s right around the corner, so why not?”

Russell played with the Louisville Magic during the grassroots travel season.
