ANGELO CIARAVINO TALKS NORTHWESTERN PICK

Just several days after Northwestern landed their first commitment in the 2024 class with KJ Windham, Chris Collins and staff have now landed their second one. This commitment came from another fast-rising prospect in Angelo Ciaravino. The 6’6” wing guard of Mount Carmel High School had become one of the most sought-after recruits in Illinois’ 2024 class over the past several months. With Mount Carmel he had a tremendous junior season helping them reach a sectional championship game and his play has continued to greatly grow from there.

While Ciaravino entered the spring with a few scholarship offers coming from Green Bay, Miami (OH), Southern Illinois, and St. Thomas, his offer list exploded with his play with the Illinois Wolves. Not only did he become one of the most popular mid-major recruits in the nation earning offers from Buffalo, Drake, Eastern Illinois, Lehigh, Marshall, Rice, St. Joseph’s, UIC, Valparaiso, and plenty of others, but he also became a target for many high major programs. As well to receiving his offer from Northwestern which came in July, DePaul, Nebraska, and Stanford also offered him in July.

“I liked how welcoming the whole staff as well as the players were to my family and I the whole trip,” Ciaravino said about choosing Northwestern over his long list of other offers. “I liked that my family and friends can drive forty minutes to come watch a home game of mine in the Big Ten. And I liked that on top of the great basketball program, they have excellent academics that can set me up for life when the ball stops bouncing.”

During the spring and July with the Illinois Wolves, Ciaravino averaged 10.5 points while shooting 56% from the field and 42% from three in addition to 5.3 rebounds and 2.2 assists on the Under Armour Association. The commitment quickly follows the rising seniors visit to the nearby Evanston campus just a few days prior. The duo of Ciaravino and Windham gives the Wildcats a very strong start to their 2024 recruitment class which could end up being one of their best in the several past years. With his basketball IQ and feel, he feels he will be able to “fit right in with everything Northwestern does” on the court.
