Ohio State continued to get an early start to their 2026 recruitment class this week with another in-state commitment. On Monday, Alex Smith of Upper Arlington High School and the Midwest Basketball Club announced his commitment to the Buckeyes.
The 6’9” wing forward chose Ohio State over a lengthy list of other offers. Cincinnati, Indiana, Nebraska, Xavier, were some of the other schools to have offered him. Ohio State had offered him back in June of this year.
“I love how the Ohio State staff kept a great relationship,” Smith first said about his decision. “They reached out a ton and was at every live period game. And the program in general, Coach Dieblers play development is amazing and these next few years we are going to be really good.”
I decided to commit early because it felt right,” Smith said about committing as he just heads into his junior season. “Thought I was going to end up there either way, so I decided to commit early.”
Smith joins five star point guard Marcus Johnson as the second member of the Buckeye’s 2026 recruitment class.
