Just a few days after his Michigan Playmaker teammate, John Simpson announced his commitment, now Joshua Gibson has announced his own. The 6’2” senior point guard of Groves High School made his commitment to Alabama-Huntsville.
While Gibson had received several offers over the past few months since his big summer with the Michigan Playmakers, Alabama-Huntsville was able to come in late to his recruitment. The division two program had just started recruiting him at the beginning of October and then only offered him a few days prior to his commitment. “Even though they had just recently offered me, we have been talking back and forth for a little over a month now. I loved the atmosphere and the support in the community, and just saw myself being a part of it,” Gibson said about them entering late in his recruitment. The other programs to had offered him included Ferris State, Lake Superior State, Northwood, and Rockhurst.
The commitment comes after Gibson had just taken his visit down to Huntsville last weekend. “I had a great time. The campus is beautiful, and I felt a really good connection between the guys and the coaches.”
On his future of suiting up for Huntsville, he said “I see myself fitting right in and making an immediate impact, as I feel like my game is very translatable. The way I shoot the ball and play tough defense will help me at the next level, as well as my ability to run point.”
