The 2025 recruitment class of Northern Michigan just continues to get better and better. The newest commitment came from Trevor Polite on Wednesday, a 6’6” wing of Homestead High School (WI) and Chapman Basketball Academy.
Following a season in which then won 22 games and advanced to the NCAA Tournament, the future just continues to look brighter for Northern Michigan and head coach Matt Majkrzak. In addition to Polite, Northern Michigan’s recruiting class also includes point guard Brooks Hinson, power forward Ross Robertson, point guard Nathan Fife, wing Pryce Gregoire, guard Keller Hanson, and wing Drew Murphy.
The decision for Polite came down to Northern Michigan as well as St. Cloud State who had also offered him. On his decision to choose Northern Michigan, Polite said “The opportunities that I will work to earn there stood out with a coaching staff that truly believes in me. It’s a coaching staff I’m very familiar with for years but just got close with them this summer, fall. There’s also a familiarity with the other commits in my grade and that creates a great comfortable fit right away, as well as a few guys already on the team I’ve known and played with for years. It’s a program and a group of guys that can win and be very successful right away and I want to win at every level I play at.”
The commitment comes after Polite took his visit up to Northern Michigan earlier this month for their game against Michigan State. “It was a great opportunity to see everything, from a great and fun game obviously a game that was a once in a lifetime moment, to spending time with the coaching staff, guys on the team, and more importantly the other six commits.”
