One of the breakout stars during the spring and summer was Cannon Flynn. Throughout the grassroots season, the 6’5” small forward was one of the top 2027 players at multiple NY2LA tournaments while playing with Oakland Elite.
“I really had a good time this season with Oakland Elite,” Flynn stated about his grassroots season. “Got to play with some great guys and really good coaches. It was fun being able to be one of the main ball handlers this AAU season. Thought our team did really well in every tournament and really stepped-up versus good teams.” This followed up a freshman season where he was the sixth man for Rochester Adams High School (MI).
When describing his own game, Flynn said “I shoot the ball really well from three and am able to score at all three levels effectively. I also think I am an energetic defender willing to guard one through five.” As well to his size on the wings, Flynn has a versatile skill set entering just his sophomore season. He continuously was able to make a big impact on the floor all season with Oakland Elite with not just his scoring ability but overall game. One aspect of his game he is looking to improve upon is his ball handling.
From sixth man in his freshman season, Flynn is looking to make a big jump in his upcoming season. “For my sophomore season is to average double digits on my varsity team. One of my goals is to also be one of the best defenders on the team.”
