Commitment season is in full swing now as we have moved into October. Most recently from the Midwest region was a commitment from senior Antione West Jr.
The 6’3” combo guard of Toledo Whitmer High School and the All Ohio program announced his commitment to Purdue and head coach Matt Painter on Tuesday. West marks the first commitment in the Boilermakers 2025 recruitment class. This commitment comes just several days after they missed out on four-star forward Trent Sisley, who Purdue was a finalist for but decided upon Indiana.
The commitment comes after West announced his top four back in August. In addition to Purdue, it included Dayton, Nebraska, and Ohio State. Among the other programs to have offered him included Arizona State, Creighton, Georgia, Michigan, Penn State, Xavier, in addition to a few mid-major programs.
On the EYBL this past year, West averaged 9.5 points, 3.2 rebounds, 3.0 assists per game in 24 minutes of action while playing for All Ohio. In his junior high school season, the guard averaged 20.3 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 3.8 assists. In the ESPN 2025 national player rankings, he checks in at the seventy-sixth spot.
